F9 changes Gisele's backstory with a new connection to Mr. Nobody, which could be used to set up Gal Gadot's return to the Fast & Furious franchise. The latest installment of the blockbuster series features several returning characters from previous Fast & Furious movies. This includes Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) and his usual crew, as well as some surprises and expected returns - such as Sung Kang's Han.

Even though Han died in his first appearance in The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift, the franchise changed its timeline to have the main series taking place before so he could keep returning. His death eventually happened again at the end of Fast & Furious 6, but fans called for his return after watching his killer, Deckard Shaw, become a friend to Dom and the team. F9 marked Han's return and provided another retcon to his "death," as the movie explained how he actually survived the attack by Shaw and faked his death. This played into Han's expanded backstory and the decisions he made after watching Gisele die in Fast & Furious 6's finale.

Gisele didn't return from the dead in F9, but the movie did manage to expand her story. With a Fast and Furious 6 flashback, Gal Gadot had a Gisele cameo thanks to the movie reusing footage. But, the movie used flashbacks in Han's life to add new details about Gisele's career and backstory. It might seem inconsequential at first, but the changes to Gisele's past could be used to bring Gal Gadot back for Fast & Furious 10 or Fast & Furious 11.

F9 Reveals Gisele Worked With Mr. Nobody

Gisele smiles at Han in Fast and Furious 6

Gal Gadot joined the Fast & Furious franchise as Gisele in the fourth film. She was a liaison for Arturo Braga, a major player in the drug trafficking game, and met Dominic Toretto and Brian O'Connor as they tried to get a position in Braga's crew to take him down. Dom saved Gisele's life during this mission and she helped him by providing the location to Braga later on. She then returns after Dom recruits her to join the crew in Brazil to steal $100 million. This is where she meets Han and eventually begins a romantic relationship with him. Gisele returns in Fast & Furious 6 alongside Han to work with Dom again but sacrifices herself to save Han's life in the end.

Her three appearances didn't shed much light on Gisele's story before 2009's Fast & Furious, but F9 began to fill in the gaps. The movie flashes back to a conversation between Han and Mr. Nobody when the latter is trying to recruit Han to join his secret organization. This is where the franchise reveals for the first time that Gisele used to work with Mr. Nobody. This wasn't during his time with the current mystery operation, but rather when they were both in the CIA. Since Mr. Nobody uses this past working relationship with Gisele to convince Han to join his cause, it appears that he and Gisele worked closely together and trusted each other a lot. This could pave the way for Mr. Nobody to play a role in Gisele's return to the Fast & Furious franchise.

Mr. Nobody Could've Faked Gisele's Death Too

Mr. Nobody has a small role in F9, but what he does could be the key to Gisele returning in the future. The movie reveals that he helped Han fake his death. While there are plenty of questions about how they knew where and when Deckard Shaw would try to kill Han, Mr. Nobody found a way to convincingly fake Han's death. This allowed Han to the come work for him and his mysterious organization. F9 makes it clear that Mr. Nobody is quite good at this aspect of the job and confirms that this isn't the first time he's had to do something like this. There is even a reference to him doing better fake deaths in the past. Could Gisele's death one of his better fakes then?

The circumstances behind Gisele's death have always been questionable. She fell off a car attached to a plane attempting to take off, but the drop to the ground wasn't that substantial. In fact, the Fast & Furious franchise already showed that Owen Shaw could survive a similar seemingly fatal fall. Fast & Furious 6 also curiously never showed Gisele's body or any confirmation that she was actually dead. That leaves the franchise with plenty of room to provide a retcon that Mr. Nobody helped Gisele fake her death. This would raise questions about why she would agree to do this after making plans with Han to settle down in Tokyo, but that story could be explained once Gisele returns in Fast & Furious 10.

How Gisele Can Return In Fast 10

F9

Gal Gadot's return as Gisele in Fast & Furious 10 or Fast & Furious 11 could be done in a similar fashion as Han's return in F9. The movie revealed that he had a connection to a missing Mr. Nobody and the coveted device Jakob Toretto was after. Fast & Furious 10 can reveal that Gisele has ties to the film's villain or plot. It is expected that Cipher will be the main villain of the sequel, but she and Gisele have no established history so far. That could easily change based on Cipher's legendary hacker status. Perhaps Gisele tried to track down Cipher back when she was with the CIA but was unable to solve the case. Now that she has emerged, this could lead Gisele to finally come out of hiding and bring some additional expertise on Cipher's methods or history.

Meanwhile, Gisele's Fast & Furious 10 return could be much simpler. The fate of Mr. Nobody is one of F9's biggest unanswered questions, as Dom and his team never located him. If he did help Gisele fake her death, she could've been working with him for the last few years. His sudden disappearance could then lead her to try and find him and inadvertently cross paths with Dom and the crew again. There's even the chance that Gisele was with Mr. Nobody when Jakob attacked the plane, so she could already be with him, which would give Dom's team an additional surprise once they find Mr. Nobody.

No matter how Gal Gadot potentially returns as Gisele in Fast & Furious 10, fans might be able to look back at F9 to see how it planted the seeds for it to happen. The Wonder Woman star theoretically should be able to take part in the 2022 production since Wonder Woman 3 isn't filming anytime soon. And since Gisele is a fan-favorite character in the Fast & Furious franchise and Gadot is now a much bigger star, it would make sense for her to be part of the two-part series finale.
