Chris Hemsworth has promised fans more thrilling stunts in Extraction 2Hemsworth, who rose to stardom playing the God of Thunder in Marvel's Thor, portrayed the role of an army veteran-turned-mercenary in the first Extraction movie. Directed by Sam Hargrave, Extraction was based on the graphic novel co-written by Joe and Anthony Russo, who also adapted the screenplay. The action thriller dropped on Netflix in 2020 and became the streaming platform's most-watched original films, with a reported 99 million households viewing it during its first four weeks of release. The highly-anticipated Extraction sequel is scheduled to begin filming this fall.

Extraction's success can largely be attributed to Hemsworth's star power and its thrilling action sequences. While many critics panned the film for its overused plot and "White Saviour" story elements, it undoubtedly served audiences with several impressive fight scenes. It saw Hemsworth's Tyler Rake character undertake a daredevil mission to rescue the son of an Indian drug lord in Bangladesh. The actor is set to reprise his role in the upcoming sequel.

In a new Instagram video, Hemsworth teased that Extraction 2 will have even more heart-pounding action scenes. The 38-year-old Australian actor's post was to celebrate the first film's big win at the recently concluded Taurus World Stunt Awards, where Extraction got the awards for Best Fight, Hardest Hit, and Best Stunt Coordination. Hemsworth posted a montage of behind-the-scenes clips showing the movie's stuntmen performing hard-hitting acts such as falling from a roof, rolling into moving cars, and jumping off a bridge. According to Hemsworth, fans can expect Extraction 2 to be "bigger and badder" than the first film. Check out his post below:

Hemsworth also revealed that filming for the sequel will begin soon. Recently, the Thor star has been posting workout videos in preparation for his return to the Extraction set. The original film's ending was ambiguous for Hemsworth's Tyler Rake, who was seen falling into the river after getting brutally wounded and shot. However, the epilogue did leave room for his possible return. This was confirmed in the sequel movie's teaser, which was recently released by Netflix.

Now that it's clear that Tyler has survived what could have been a fatal fall, the question is not how he survived but what he does after. Will he return to his mercenary ways, or will he start a new life after his near-death experience? While the sequel's plot remains unknown, what's certain is that Extraction 2 will feature even more hair-raising stunts than the original movie. It's poised to become a new film saga, one that would take Hemsworth from being a cape-wearing, hammer-wielding god to a certified action hero.
