Chris Hemsworth has shown off his impressive stunt work on the set of Extraction 2. The sequel follows the highly-successful first Extraction movie, which was released on Netflix back in 2020. The action thriller which saw Hemsworth’s Tyler Rake battle through underground crime networks to rescue a kidnapped child. Extraction 2 is currently in development, with much of the team behind the first film returning to work on the sequel, including its main star.

The first Extraction film was notable for its intense and ambitious action-sequences, and equally bold stunt work. The director of the film and its upcoming sequel, Sam Hargrave, has also served as a stunt coordinator on other blockbuster films, including several movies in the MCU. Hargrave’s talents for action and stunt work stood out in Extraction and became the aspect of the movie that drew the most praise. The best moments of the film were arguably those that involved Hemsworth tackling stunningly orchestrated chase sequences, which transition in and out of buildings, and through moving car windows.

Now, in a video shared to his Instagram, Hemsworth has shown fans his latest "stunt" on the set of Extraction 2. The video shows Hemsworth limbering up and seemingly prepared to fight, before taking an unexpected turn. The actor shoots forward, looking as if about to throw a punch, before neatly tucking himself into a jacket and spinning around to execute a kick. Check out Hemsworth's full video below:

Viewers will see Hemsworth against the backdrop of the seemingly huge set and assume that the actor is about to practice a complex stunt, like those that characterized Extraction. But this fun twist shows that, while a big-budget film like Extraction 2 required a lot of serious work, the cast and crew clearly have license to have some fun on the side. While the video will guarantee amusement, it also shows off Hemsworth’s ability when it comes to practical stunts. It can be easy for audiences to underestimate the amount of work that some actors put into the execution of stunts and physical fitness, with some assuming that much of this work is added in digitally or edited together in post-production. However, this isn't always the case, and many actors like Hemsworth opt to perform their own stunts when possible.

2022 is shaping up to be one of the biggest years in Hemsworth’s career. Alongside shooting for Extraction 2, the Australian actor will be waiting for the imminent release of Thor: Love and Thunder, the fourth Thor film and his first MCU project since Avengers: Endgame. However, while the months ahead will clearly be extremely busy for Hemsworth, it is nice to see the star goofing off and enjoying himself on the Extraction 2 set, and some of this fun will likely seep into the film itself.
