Actor Chris Hemsworth has shared a new set video from Extraction 2, which confirms his filming on the sequel has wrapped. Sam Hargrave was best known for being a stunt coordinator on films like Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Endgame, Atomic Blonde, and Deadpool 2, before making his feature directorial debut with Netflix’s Extraction. At the time of its release, Extraction was the biggest Netflix movie ever, which quickly led to a sequel being greenlit with Hargrave returning to direct with a script once again written by Joe Russo.

In addition to Hemsworth, Extraction 2 stars Tinatin Dalakishvili, Adam Bessa, Patrick Newall, Rayna Campbell, and Armen Grayg. The sequel has been filming for several months and Hemsworth has teased how Extraction 2 ups the ante in terms of stunts and action. For example, Hemsworth shared an Extraction 2 video from the set that shows his character in a prison-like structure with a large group of people engaging in a riot, complete with pyrotechnics. Now, Hemsworth and Hargrave have revealed a filming wrap on Extraction 2.

Hemsworth recently took to Instagram to confirm he’s wrapped filming on Extraction 2. The 40-second video shows the actor thanking the cast and crew for coming together and overcoming obstacles like weather conditions during production. He then went on to joke about the absurdity of one stunt involving a helicopter and a moving train. Hargrave shared the video and added that while Hemsworth has wrapped, there’s still a week of filming left. Check it out below:

Plot details for Extraction 2 remain under wraps. At the end of the first film, mercenary Tyler Rake (Hemsworth) was severely injured and seemingly left for dead. Naturally, the sequel will explain how he survived his wounds after falling off that bridge and subsequently deal with the aftermath of that. The original Extraction was largely a success not because of its story but also due to its R-rating and thrilling action set pieces. Extraction 2 will have to deliver some of the best contemporary action sequences if it wants to top the first film, and it looks like it could do just that.

With the upcoming Thor: Love and Thunder, the announcement that he will play the villain in George Miller’s Furiosa, and Extraction 2, Hemsworth is in for a busy year. If his next appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe proves to be his last, the success of Extraction 2 could solidify another trilogy and/or franchise. The film does not have a release date yet, but it is expected to debut sometime this year.
