Millennium Media is considering bringing their established IP to television including Rambo and The Expendables. Both are long-running franchises led by action star Sylvester Stallone. Rambo began with the 1982 film First Blood, which was followed by 4 sequels (most recently 2019's Rambo: Last Blood) and a 65 episode cartoon series called Rambo: The Force of Freedom in 1986, where voice actor Neil Ross stepped into the Rambo role. Sylvester Stallone has expressed interest in reprising the Rambo role in a film that sees him return to the Native American reservation where he grew up.

The Expendables is a much newer but no less expansive franchise. Beginning in 2010 with a film directed and co-written by Stallone, the series that reteams iconic action stars from the 80's and 90's has a fourth film incoming. The Expendables 4 is currently in production, with a cast that includes Andy Garcia, 50 Cent, Tony Jaa, Iko Uwais, and Megan Fox. The returning cast members from previous films include Jason Statham, Dolph Lundgren, Randy Couture, and of course Sylvester Stallone.

Speaking with THR, Millennium Media president Jeffrey Greenstein explained that they are developing a slate of television shows. He says they intend to focus on the IP they already possess before developing original series. Two potential series he highlighted are Rambo and The Expendables, though both projects are only in the development stage so he couldn't give any details about cast, crew, or plot. Read the full quote below:

Our focus has always been on feature film, we do have a slate of TV that we’re developing. But my plan is to focus on our IP within the TV space and build out Has Fallen TV, Rambo TV, Expendables TV. We’re playing around with Hellboy TV. So there are lots of opportunities, but I really want to launch something IP-driven first before we start developing original content.

The other shows Greenstein mentioned being in potential development are Hellboy and Has Fallen, the Gerard Butler action franchise about a heroic former secret service agent that began with 2013's Olympus Has Fallen. Of the entire slate he mentioned, Hellboy is probably the least likely to come to fruition, considering the fact that the 2019 Hellboy reboot film was a box office flop and Disney's Marvel Cinematic Universe mostly has a monopoly on Marvel projects at this point. Adapting the comics may result in some sticky negotiations with them, much like the troubled truce reached between Marvel Studios and Sony in the Spider-Man deal.

Rambo and The Expendables, however, seem like a solid possibility. Considering Stallone's interest in returning to Rambo and willingness to continue his Expendables role, there's even a slight chance he would consent to appear on the series. Likely, this would only be a cameo or the reduced mentor position that he took in the Creed films, where he reprised the role of Rocky as a coach for his former rival's son. Whatever way it might happen, his presence would certainly be key in getting either of those projects off the ground.
