The 2010 Summer Movie Season will go out with a mighty testosterone-fueled bang when The Expendables hits theaters this August, starring and directed by Rambo himself, Sylvester Stallone.
Although the film co-stars hard-hitting tough guys like Jet Li, Jason Stratham, Mickey Rourke, Dolph Lundgren, Randy Couture, Terry Crews, and Steve Austin, Stallone is the leader of The Expendables brigade - both on-screen and behind the camera.
As you can see in these new images from the film (which come curtesy of JoBlo), that's a job that requires a pretty no-nonsense attitude.
First, we have a pic of former Olympic diver Stratham demonstrating his utter lack of Acrophobia (fear of heights) while riding atop the nose of a jet. All I can say is that it's a good thing he keeps his hair trimmed short, otherwise he'd look like a real ninny right here.
Next, Stallone settles an argument between two of his comrades (Li and Lundgren) the old fashioned way - holding them at gunpoint, of course. HR at my old job would've been so much more efficient if they'd just taken a leaf out his book on how to handle conflict in the workplace.
Judging by this next pic, Jet Li will at least get to show off his ninja-sneaking skills in The Expendables. Here's hoping he gets the chance to pull some of his moves from The Forbidden Kingdom as well.
Finally, you can see Stallone as the head honcho behind the scenes of The Expendables. I imagine it's intimidating to try and change the mind of an auteur with beefy arms and popped-out veins like that.
Those who are curious as to what exactly the plot of The Expendables will be should check out the explosion-packed trailer themselves. Be prepared, though - the footage includes a cameo appearance by two action movie legends.
So what do you think? Does The Expendables look like a great way to end the upcoming blockbuster movie season? Sound off in the comments section below.
The Expendables will be out in theaters in the U.S. on August 13, 2010.
