Light is the Only Thing Faster than this 'Expendables' Clip

The Expendables movie

There is little argument that the manliest film to come out this summer will be the testosterone-infused action flick The Expendables.  In fact, every time I watch any trailer or clip from this film my beard grows 2 inches, my voice lowers 2 octaves and I have the sudden need to grill something.

Normally the suggestion of an all-male cast that gets sweaty together while rolling around with other guys in the jungle would conjure images of the Adult room in the back of a video store (not that I’ve ever been there). However, in this case, all the males are Special Forces mercenaries that could easily maim me with just their little finger or a sideways glance.

Today we have a newly released clip from The Expendables and it’s an extended scene of what we’ve already watched in the multiple trailers – that doesn’t make it any less cool though. Stallone and his group of bad asses are trying to rescue a guy from a group of kidnappers, and while any normal person would be scared poopless by the thought of the life-threatening situation, these guys are talking about how many people they should each kill, taking text messages and generally shooting the breeze.

Watch the video below via Hulu but keep your razor next to you:

Slyvester Stallone has put together a great cast for The Expendables that includes almost every action star from the 80s/90s era  – Stallone, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Eric Roberts, Mickey Rourke, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Bruce Willis. Stallone managed to blend those old school guys with a great array of new school action dudes – Jason Statham, Randy Couture, Steve Austin, and Terry Crews.

The names he gives these characters are just as awesome as the guys playing them – Barney “The Schizo” Ross, Lee Christmas, Yin Yang, Gunnar Jensen, Toll Road, Dan Paine, Hale Caeser, and Tool. Stallone and fellow writer Dave Callahan didn’t completely leave the women out of The Expendables: the ridiculously gorgeous Giselle Itie (Mais Uma Historia No Rio) will play Sandra, a.k.a. “The Woman in need of saving by a team of aging yet badass guys.”

Do you think The Expendables will live up to the hype and what other action star from the 80s should have been in this film? You cannot say Chuck Norris because if he was in the film he would kill all the bad guys while Stallone and his team were still talking to each other.

The Expendables makes you grow a beard on August 13rd, 2010.
