Sylvester Stallone Announces 'Expendables' Director's Cut

Sylvester Stallone took to Twitter to announce a director's cut of The Expendables will come out in about six months - and that the making-of documentary, Inferno, will be out soon.

Could we soon be seeing a meaner, bloodier, and (dare I say) more ass-kicking version of The Expendables? The answer, according to Sylvester Stallone himself, is a throat-chopping, YES!

Last week on Twitter, that wonderful fountain of misspelled celebrity wisdom, Stallone said that a director's cut of The Expendables would be coming out in "about six months."To tide over action fiends that propelled The Expendables to more than $180 million in worldwide box office grosses, Stallone also said that Inferno, a documentary about the making of The Expendables, would be "out soon."

Even though The Expendables didn't go over all that well with critics (read our review here), the film did manage to connect with its target audience, and I suspect that same audience will be interested in checking out Stallone's director's cut.

Personally, I am more interested in seeing the behind-the-scenes documentary.

Remember when Stallone broke his neck on the set of The Expendables? According to Deadline, that incident will be part of Inferno. No word yet on whether the documentary shows Stallone and Dolph Lundgren recreating the final fight from Rocky 4 in Jason Statham's trailer. Though, that would certainly be awesome.

In addition to talking about a director's cut of The Expendables, Stallone's Twitter stream has also provided us with some insight into The Expendables 2. Alongside a myriad of fitness tips about the value of fish in your diet, as well as shout-outs to Jean-Claude Van Damme, Stallone tweeted that he would like to have Bruce Willis play a villain in The Expendables sequel and that he wants to set the film in one of the most "dangerous places in the world."

We'll be sure to keep an eye on all of Stallone's tweets going forward for the latest on The Expendables. In the meantime, feel free to revisit our all-female Expendables line-up, led by super-tough Sigourney Weaver.
