The Expendables 4 star Sylvester Stallone has shared an on-set video from his final day of filming. The fourth Expendables movie instalment has endured a tumultuous development period, after Stallone initially left the project in 2017 due to creative differences, before returning in 2018. Further roadblocks were introduced by the COVID-19 pandemic, but filming on the long-awaited sequel finally commenced in September.

Stallone returns to the franchise as the iconic team leader, Barney Ross. Joining him are returning co-stars Jason Statham, Dolph Lundgren, and Randy Couture. New additions include Megan Fox, 50 Cent, Andy Garcia, and Tony Jaa. The Expendables 4 was written by Max D. Adams, John Joseph Connolly, and Spenser Cohen, though plot details have so far remained under wraps. Need For Speed director Scott Waugh is helming this latest addition to the action franchise, taking the reins from The Expendables 3 director, Patrick Hughes.

In the latest sneak peek into The Expendables 4 posted by Stallone on Instagram, the action movie veteran shared a video from his final day on set. Previously, Stallone has posted some behind-the-scenes pictures of himself in full costume with Jason Statham, and another set video of himself riding a motorbike. In the latest on-set video, Stallone tells fans, "This will be my last day." Calling the day "bittersweet" and reminiscing on his journey with the franchise, he added that he was, "ready to pass the baton on to Jason." He said that he hoped Expendables 4 had a "human touch" and that audiences would be able to relate and identify with the film's mission and characters. "That's the hard part," he added, "Heart, energy, and humour." Check out the post below:

Though lots of behind-the-scenes content has come to light in recent weeks, plot details for The Expendables 4 have remained a steadfast secret. The film has been confirmed to be Stallone's final appearance as Barney Ross, leaving viewers to wonder exactly how he will make his official exit. His admission to "handing the baton" on to Jason Statham also seems to confirm that the latter's character, Lee Christmas, is fully positioned to take over the team in the new instalment.

While filming currently continues in London, audiences shouldn't have to wait too much longer for the highly-anticipated Expendables 4. Having already endured an almost eight-year wait, the continuous stream of sneak previews will sufficiently feed fan anticipation. With Stallone already announcing his last day on set, a vast web of possible storylines seems to have been left to speculate over. Reportedly aiming for a 2022 release date, The Expendables 4 will hopefully prove to be the grand finale Stallone deserves.
