Thanks to a Twitter exchange with some fans, The Expanse star Shohreh Aghdashloo is now in talks for a role in The Wheel of Time season 2. The Wheel of Time is Amazon's newest streaming show, an epic fantasy based on the long-running novel series of the same name by Robert Jordan. The show, which follows Moiraine (Rosamund Pike), a woman with magical powers attempting to discover the whereabouts of the Dragon Reborn who will either save or destroy the world, has quickly become one of the service's most popular series. The first three episodes of The Wheel of Time have already been streamed for a combined total of over 1.16 billion minutes.

The Wheel of Time season 2 was already greenlit back in May before season 1 even premiered. With that in mind, fans have been hotly anticipating where the series will go, and who will be playing the characters introduced down the line. One such character is Cadsuane Melaidhrin, the oldest sister of the magical group known as the Aes Sedai. One potential cast member with heavy support is Aghdashloo, who stars in Amazon's sci-fi series The Expanse, which is currently airing its sixth and final season.

On her Twitter account, Aghdashloo stirred the casting pot when she responded to a Tweet from Twitter user Edward, who insisted on using the power of the fanbase to cast her as Cadsuane. She tagged Wheel of Time showrunner Rafe Judkins in her response, saying "we need to talk." Judkins later responded, revealing that he's "in" and saying that she's been on his "mood board for a certain character since 2018." See both tweets below:

This interaction, which was fueled entirely by fan fervor, is sure to delight those who have been loving the series. However, there are a few important elements of this exchange to keep tabs on. First, the role that Aghdashloo would be in talks for would not be Cadsuane because Judkins already has his own ideas. Second, the fact that he's not considering her for the role and the specific way he's been cagey about it may imply that the character has already been cast. This means that fans may be hearing about who's playing Cadsuane sooner than later, considering that Wheel of Time season 2 is already several episodes deep into production.

While it just might not work out in terms of scheduling, the fact that both Aghdashloo and Judkins are interested in her taking a role on the show means that it's more likely than not that fans will be seeing her in the series. The show has taken many liberties with the source material, so it's unknown what direction they will be going in terms of how and when they will introduce characters from the novels. This makes it hard to guess who she might be invited to play in The Wheel of Time, though the only additional season 2 roles that have officially been announced have been male characters, so there are plenty of options remaining.
