Warning: This article contains spoilers for The Expanse season 6.

The Expanse season 6, episode 2, "Azure Dragon," sees Bobbie Draper spontaneously join the crew of the Rocinante and it could have a significant impact on the rest of the season. Bobbie is sent on a special operation on orders from UN Secretary-General Chrisjen Avasarala. She arrives with news that instead of destroying the Free Navy spotter ship Azure Dragon, the Roci will board and capture the vessel in hopes of accessing its data core containing the locations of Marco Inaros' Earth-bound asteroids. Bobbie initially seems displeased with convicted felon Clarissa Mao's presence on the Roci, but her positive relationships with Holden, Naomi, and Amos in the past should make Bobbie a real asset for the crew, assuming she remains on the ship from here on out in The Expanse season 6.

A former gunnery sergeant in the Martian Navy, Bobbie has seen it all in the time since her introduction in The Expanse season 2. Previously stubborn in her patriotism and belief in the dream of Mars, Bobbie has since evolved into more of a diplomat, having worked with Earthers and Belters at various points through season 5. Her coordination with Avasarala and the crew of the Roci in the past has particularly broadened Bobbie's perspective and made her the formidable ally she is by The Expanse season 6.

Bobbie's arrival on the Roci in The Expanse season 6 presents a significant advantage not only for Holden and his crew but also for the entire UNN-MCRN fleet. Prior to the Azure Dragon mission, Bobbie was working alongside Avasarala as her liaison, away from the action. After capturing the Azure Dragon, the Earth-Mars coalition has a victory under its belt and can assume a crucial role in the war against the Free Navy. Even though Marco and the Free Navy are far from vanquished, Bobbie's combat skills and military expertise will undoubtedly make a difference in the war's turning point.

The Expanse season 6 episode 2 Bobbie Holden Roci

In The Expanse season 6, Holden has taken the now-deceased Alex's place in the Roci's pilot's chair, though Bobbie’s experience as a Martian Marine means she can fly the Roci if needed. Additionally, she can take control of the ship's weapons or suit up in her power armor to take on external threats, as she has done countless times throughout the series. Bobbie's aptness with firearms and hand-to-hand combat is virtually unmatched, and when adorns her Martian power armor, she becomes practically indestructible. Having an asset like Bobbie on the Roci in The Expanse season 6 is a gift like none other for the crew.

Bobbie's strengths do not stop at her physical prowess. She has proven that she is both tactically smart and mentally resolute in the heat of battle. Unwilling to deviate from the mission when the Azure Dragon unexpectedly detects the Roci, Bobbie keeps the others on task, which ultimately leads to the operation's success. The event is reminiscent of when, in The Expanse season 2, Bobbie successfully executed a plan to save Avasarala and her assistant Cotyar aboard the Guanshiyin when Jules-Pierre Mao's men turned on the three of them.

With Bobbie on board, the Roci houses a top-notch, well-rounded crew that embodies a formidable threat should they clash with Marco in the four remaining episodes of The Expanse season 6. Of course, Amos' fighting abilities, Naomi's engineering knowledge, and Clarissa's mechanical know-how all pose additional advantages, but Bobbie's indestructible nature elevates the Roci's status to the Earth-Mars coalition's principal weapon. All in all, Bobbie's arrival on the Roci constitutes an opportunity for the former Marine to do the damage she was always meant to do in such a war.
