Laura Haddock has expressed interest at returning to the Guardians of the Galaxy in a larger role, if possible. in the first two Guardians of the Galaxy films, she played Meredith Quill, Star-Lord's mother, and something of a love interest for Ego the Living Planet. She's currently starring in Transformers: The Last Knight as a new character, Vivian Wembley, but her involvement in Transformers hasn't diminished her desire to continue her part in the MCU.

Even after Meredith's death at the very beginning of the first Guardians of the Galaxy, she still managed to return in the sequel to provide backstory for her relationship with Ego. In The Last Knight, she plays Professor Vivian Wembly, who teaches English literature at Oxford University when she becomes caught up in the Transformers chaos. With a larger role in a big blockbuster, she's clearly hoping to capitalize on multiple franchises.

During an exclusive interview with Screen Rant, Haddock talked about the possibility of returning to Marvel for a third outing with the Guardians of the Galaxy. Whilst mentioning that she's eager for a bigger role within the Guardians films, she suggested that her character may need to evolve in some way to justify her involvement.

Will you return for a third Marvel movie?

Laura Haddock: Who knows, let's see! Let's talk to Marvel.

If you could return for any Marvel movie, which one would it be?

LH: I loved being in Guardians, so I'm wondering if I could just try and morph into somebody else and become a bigger part in Guardians.

Obviously Guardians 3 could open with another flashback featuring Meridith and Peter, but if she wants a bigger role, then it likely won't be as Meridith herself, but as some other manifestation. Other movies have done this through dream sequences or holographic artificial intelligence, but her likeness could also be co-opted by a shape-shifting villain as a way to torment Peter. While that might seem a little too close to Ego's plot in Guardians of the Galaxy 2, if done correctly it could also be a nice way of echoing the persistent theme of family and parenthood present in the previous two films.

Since both Guardians of the Galaxy films have been hugely successful both critically and financially, it's not surprising that Haddock wants to appear for a third time in the cosmic side of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Given that Marvel is allowing the stranger side of the comics to be explored on screen with films like Guardians and Doctor Strange, it's certainly possible of someone or something taking the appearance of Meredith Quill. It would bring the films into a full circle given that the franchise started with Meredith's death and then the nature of Peter's father.

Haddock's appearance as Meredith Quill wasn't actually her first appearance in the MCU, she actually starred in Captain America: The First Avenger as a 'Fangirl' and is credited as 'Autograph Seeker'. If she did return to the franchise, her reappearance would certainly carry the type of emotional weight that Director James Gunn proves he can create with ease. She's already got her foot in the door, but only time will tell if she returns.
