There are several Pokémon in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl that have specific evolution requirements, including Aipom. Evolving Aipom into Ambipom will require Aipom to know or learn a specific move. Players may be able to find a wild Aipom that already knows the right move. Otherwise, they will need to bring the Pokémon to a Pokémon BDSP Move Tutor.
In order to catch Aipom in Pokémon BDSP, players will need to search along Route 213, or in Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl's Grand Underground. The Grand Underground has several different types of Pokémon Hideaways, and players can find Aipom in the Spacious Cave, but they will need the Defog HM first. In Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, the Defog HM can be obtained after players reach Pastoria City and enter the Great Marsh Safari Zone.
To capture Aipom, players can use a Dusk Ball in the Grand Underground, which gives them a better catch rate for Pokémon in a cave. Players can also use a Quick Ball in any Aipom spawn location to try to catch it immediately after the battle starts. Aipom is a Normal-type Pokémon and is weak against Fighting-types, but players need to be sure not to knock Aipom out before catching it.
Evolving Aipom in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl
Players can also attract Aipom using the various Honey Trees around Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. Once Aipom is captured, players will need to level it up to 32 so it can learn the move Double Hit. This move is required for evolving Aipom into Ambipom, but it will only be learned when Aipom reaches level 32. If players catch a wild Aipom that's above level 32 and doesn't know Double Hit, then they'll need to have Aipom learn the move another way.
Double Hit can't be found as a TM, but Aipom can also learn the move if players take their Pokémon to the Move Tutor in Pastoria City. Players will need to offer a Heart Scale, which can be mined in the Grand Underground, in order to have the Move Tutor teach Double Hit to Aipom. After Aipom learns Double Hit by leveling or going to the Move Tutor, it will evolve into Ambipom the next time it levels up.
In Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, players can catch and evolve Aipom into Ambipom as long as the Pokémon meets the evolution requirements. Aipom appears in the grass along Route 213 as well as at Honey Trees or in the Grand Underground in Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. Aipom will evolve into Ambipom once it learns Double Hit and levels up once, which can make it one of the more involved Pokémon to evolve.
