Warning! Spoilers ahead for Crime Syndicate #6!

In the conclusion to Crime Syndicate, an evil version of Supergirl arrives. The six-part miniseries has explored the Earth-3 villains' origins, while also seeing their formation as a team. Essentially, Earth-3 is a reversed version of Earth-0 where most heroes are villains and vice versa. The Crime Syndicate is comprised of alternate versions of core Justice League members. Going by different aliases, they are a villainous group of criminals with extraordinary powers and abilities.

In the comics, Earth-3's version of Kara Zor-El has appeared on multiple occasions. This version of Supergirl first appeared in Countdown to Final Crisis #16 in 2008. Just like Supergirl prime, who took on the "super" from Superman, Earth-3 Kara is known as Ultragirl, having taken the "ultra" from Ultraman's villain name. On her Earth, she is a lesser-known superpowered criminal than her cousin. This draws a parallel to the way that Supergirl has been continually sidelined and overshadowed by Superman in main DC continuity, as heavily commented upon in Future State.

In Crime Syndicate #6 by Andy Schmidt, Kieran Mckeown, Bryan Hitch, and Dexter Vines, Kara Zor-El of Earth-3 shows up. It's unclear whether this version of Earth 3's Kara is the same as before, however, she will be named Ultragirl. One thing's certain, Ultraman is not pleased that his cousin has returned. Ultraman, being the evil villain that he is, sees Ultragirl as a threat. In his eyes, his cousin is an opposing power that could topple what he's worked for. Therefore, Ultraman is out to kill Ultragirl. Take a look at the cover and solicitation info for Crime Syndicate #6 below:

  • Look, up in the sky! It’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s…Ultragirl? That’s right, folks, Kara Zor-El of Earth-3 arrives, and it’s far from a happy family reunion! Can Ultraman take his cousin down and reclaim his place as the true last survivor of Krypton? Meanwhile, on a hidden island in the Pacific, Emerald Knight must finally decide: Will he stand with the Legion of Justice? Or will he give in to the Crime Syndicate?Don’t miss out on the shocking finale that shakes Earth-3 to its core!

Ultragirl possesses the exact same power set as Supergirl, but she is the complete opposite of her. Ultragirl answers the popular question of what would happen if Supergirl went bad because they are so similar. According to the solicitation for Crime Syndicate #6, it looks like Kara's arrival in town is unexpected and quite sudden. Their relationship as cousins is troubled beyond anything that Supergirl and Superman have ever squabbled about. Ultraman will drop everything to take down his cousin in the name of reclaiming his place as the "true last survivor of Krypton."

In the end, Earth-3's Supergirl is likely to give Ultraman a challenge, and will not go down without a fight. Ultraman, fueled by rage, is determined to be the only survivor of Krypton. This opposes Superman and Supergirl's views as they are routinely seen as happy and welcoming to any new refugees, as evidenced in the recent issues of Action Comics. As of now, Ultragirl's intentions are unclear, but it's entirely possible that she's arrived with her own ulterior motive. Crime Syndicate #6 releases on August 3 in comic book shops and on digital platforms.
