The cast of Evil Dead Rise might not be household names, but their performances help to bring the blood-curdling terror of the classic horror franchise to life. Based on the characters created by Sam Raimi, the 2023 movie Evil Dead Rise transfers the nightmare of the Deadites from the seclusion of a cabin in the woods to the unfriendly confines of a Los Angeles apartment building. Despite the change of location and characters, Evil Dead Rise still delivers all the chills and thrills expected from an Evil Dead movie but with a modern cast and entirely new ways to give the audience nightmares.

Upping the ante for the already gruesome franchise, the extreme horror of Evil Dead Rise aims to top even the worst moments from the earlier films while also exploring the relationship between two reunited sisters. The family dynamic is put to the ultimate horrifying test as the demons of the Necronomicon return from the bowels of hell to possess the souls of the living, but this time it's in one of the largest cities in the world. Here's a guide to the cast of Evil Dead Rise, what characters they play, and what else they're known for.

Lily Sullivan As Beth

Heading up the cast of Evil Dead Rise, Lily Sullivan plays Beth, who becomes the protector of her older sister's children when the mother of three falls under the evil spell of the Necronomicon. Notable for work in her native Australia, Lily Sullivan turned heads for her portrayal of Petra in all six episodes of the series Romper Stomper in 2018. That same year, she played Miranda in the miniseries Picnic at Hanging Rock. In 2022, Sullivan starred in Monolith as The Interviewer, the only character shown on screen in the movie.

Alyssa Sutherland As Ellie

Alyssa Sutherland stars as Ellie, who becomes possessed by the evil Deadites of the Necronomicon. Sutherland's first role came as Clacker in the 2006 comedy classic The Devil Wears Prada, which called on her extensive real-life experience as a model. Sutherland is most recognized for her recurring role as Aslaug in the epic historical series Vikings, and she also appeared in all 10 episodes of the ill-fated Stephen King adaptation series The Mist in 2017. Before joining the cast of Evil Dead Rise, Sullivan also appeared as Jane in the 2019 Australian horror movie Blood Vessel.

Appearing as Danny, Morgan Davies plays the teenage son of Ellie who teams up with his aunt to take on the Deadite power that has consumed his mother. Davies's breakout role came as Simone in the 2010 drama The Tree, and he followed that up with a two-episode stint as Leah Marcos in the science fiction series Terra Nova. Davies's true claim to fame came when he starred as the transgender teen Oberon Brennan in the Australian drama series The End in 2020. Davies also plays Koby in the 2023 live-action adaptation of the wildly popular anime series One Piece for Netflix.

Gabrielle Echols As Bridget

Gabrielle Echols plays Bridget, Ellie's oldest daughter. She must help protect her younger sibling, Kassie, from the Deadites, which have possessed her mom. Joining the cast of Evil Dead Rise marked only Echols's second screen role in her relatively brief career as an actor. Her only other role came as Titch in the 2021 sci-fi noir Reminiscence where she was able to act alongside Hugh Jackman. Representing several of the fresh faces in Evil Dead Rise, Echols delivers a spirited performance that befits a proper sophomore outing.

Nell Fisher As Kassie

Kassie, played by Nell Fisher, is the youngest of Ellie's three children and the object of the Deadites' evil attention. By far the youngest member of the cast of Evil Dead Rise, Fisher makes her major motion picture debut in the gory horror film. On the small screen, Fisher's most recognizable role came as Olive Crowe in two episodes of the crime comedy My Life is Murder alongside Lucy Lawless in 2022. Her only other credit came when she starred in the New Zealand streaming exclusive post-apocalyptic thriller film Northspur as Tia, also in 2022.

Crouchley's most recognizable role came as Steven Grimstone in the teen drama series Head High.

Mirabai Pease as Teresa: Fixing the Evil Dead franchise's recurring issue of being too silly, the opening scene of Evil Dead Rise featuring Mirabai Pease as Teresa proves the movie is a serious horror spectacle when she discovers her friend Jessica is possessed. Pease also makes her feature film debut as part of the cast of Evil Dead Rise. She previously appeared as Hazel Peters in the TV series The Gulf and alongside Richard Crouchley as Madison in Head High.

Anna-Maree Thomas as Jessica: Starting Evil Dead Rise with a bang, Anna-Maree Thomas's Jessica becomes the first victim of the Deadites when she is possessed while staying at a secluded cabin in the woods with her friends. Thomas co-starred as Ruth in the indie teen comedy Hibiscus & Ruthless in 2018, but her largest and most recognizable role came in the 2020 miniseries The Sounds where she played Zoe McGregor.

Jayden Daniels as Gabriel: Jayden Daniels appears as the teenager Gabriel and is another of the younger members of the cast of Evil Dead Rise. Daniels previously appeared as Mana Roberts in the TV series Head High, but his largest role came as Curtis Hannah in over 300 episodes of the New Zealand soap opera Shortland Street.

Billy Reynolds-McCarthy as Jake: The teenager Jake is played by up-and-coming New Zealand actor Billy Reynolds-McCarthy, and Evil Dead Rise is his first film role. Reynolds-McCarthy's only other credit came when he appeared as Wade Stack in the soap opera Shortland Street.

Tai Wano as Scott: Rounding out the cast of newcomers in Evil Dead Rise, Tai Wano plays Scott in only his second-ever credit. Wano's first role came as the younger version of the character Heps in one episode of the comedy series Not Even.
