Saber Interactive's Evil Dead: The Game has been delayed until next year, and will be adding solo play as well. The upcoming competitive survival game is based on the beloved horror film franchise which began back in 1981. Evil Dead: The Game will put four players in the role of survivors, including Bruce Campbell's iconic series protagonist Ash Williams, who must battle to survive against deadly supernatural foes.During December 2020's Game Awards event, new story and gameplay details about Evil Dead: The Game were revealed by developer Saber Interactive. The game seems to be heavily inspired by earlier films in the series, such as 1981's Evil Dead and 1987's Evil Dead II, which followed the classic horror movie setup of teenagers being trapped in the woods by monsters. However, the game's playable characters come from every inch of the long-running franchise, including 1992's action comedy installment Army of Darkness and the just recently concluded television series Ash vs Evil Dead. Like other recent titles such as Dead by Daylight and Friday the 13th: The Game, the upcoming Evil Dead game creates fun and intense asymmetrical multiplayer scenarios using a horror movie backdrop.Related: Every Major 4-Player Co-Op Game Releasing In 2021Via Twitter, Saber Interactive has announced that Evil Dead: The Game has been delayed until February 2022. The asymmetrical multiplayer adventure was initially announced for a 2021 release, but extra time is being taken to properly polish the experience. This additional development time will also allow Saber to add a single-player mode into the game, allowing fans to play out their Evil Dead fantasies without any additional allies. The developer asks players to stay tuned for more updates in the near future, including pre-order availability and a new gameplay video starring Bruce Campbell himself.[EMBED_TWITTER]https://twitter.com/EvilDeadTheGame/status/1423282853165428736[/EMBED_TWITTER]Bruce Campbell's presence in Evil Dead: The Game came as a surprise to some fans, as the beloved actor was said to be retiring from the role of Ash Williams after the 2018 conclusion of the Ash vs Evil Dead television series. Now Campbell is coming back one final time to lend his voice to the Deadite-slaying warrior, and he recently narrated a new Evil Dead: The Game gameplay trailer which released during June's Summer Game Fest. The trailer, made much more authentic by Bruce Campbell's presence, shows off gameplay for both the game's four survivors and the lone Kandarian Demon player. Survivors can take down foes using melee attacks or firearms, while the demon can pull off unique tricks such as possessing survivors to turn them against their allies.Evil Dead: The Game seems to deliver an authentic Evil Dead experience, appealing to both fans of the film series and players of asymmetric multiplayer titles. The art style is quite unique, and elements are being pulled from across the franchise to create the ultimate Evil Dead showcase. While a delay into 2022 is disappointing for excited fans, the extra time to polish and perfect the experience will hopefully allow the game to reach its full potential.Next: Bruce Campbell Reprising Ash Williams One More Time in Evil Dead Video GameEvil Dead: The Game will release in February 2022.Source: Evil Dead: The Game/Twitter
