The latest installment of the Evil Dead franchise, Evil Dead Rise, has added three young actors to its cast. Sam Raimi’s iconic horror franchise debuted almost 40 years ago with The Evil Dead and has since become a trilogy of films and a TV show (Ash vs. Evil Dead) led by Bruce Campbell’s Ash Williams. However, despite Campbell hanging up the chainsaw, Raimi’s original trilogy will continue with Evil Dead Rise. Directed by Lee Cronin, who was handpicked by producers Campbell and Raimi, Evil Dead Rise will put the franchise in the city and follow two sisters played by Alyssa Sutherland and Lily Sullivan, whose reunion is interrupted by the evil entities. Evil Dead Rise filming began earlier this month in New Zealand, and now the film has added some new faces to its cast.

The Hollywood Reporter revealed that New Line Cinema has brought in three young faces to join the cast of Evil Dead Rise, Gabrielle Echols, Morgan Davies, and Nell Fisher. All three are relatively new actors to audiences, and as the report notes, Echols will make her feature debut in Hugh Jackman’s Reminiscence. Coincidentally, Davies starred in The Girlfriend Experience series on Starz, the same network that aired Ash vs. Evil Dead. For Fisher, this will be her second feature after Northspur. To help continue promoting the film, Campbell even tweeted the report by writing: “Your new horror heroes.” Full Tweet can be seen below:

It will be interesting to see how big their roles will be, but judging by Campbell’s tweet, they may have a big part to play in Evil Dead Rise. Not much is known about the plot of Evil Dead Rise, but Campbell has stated that Evil Dead is “about ordinary people overcoming extraordinary terrifying situations.” So casting three up-and-coming actors will certainly allow that “ordinary” feeling to be more present. The fourth Evil Dead film will also be more of a horror than a comedy, according to Cronin. Fans will no doubt be waiting for Evil Dead Rise’s HBO Max release to see if it’s as “groovy” as the rest.
