John Wick 4 updates remained unreliable for a long time thanks to rescheduling and bumping it down the release schedule. However, the good news is that it is coming very soon and fans can finally see what is expected to be the end of John Wick's story. Keanu Reeves plays John Wick, an assassin pulled out of retirement when someone kills his dog. However, after he gets revenge, he ended up in a feud with another assassin and broke a cardinal rule of the organization that protected him.

Soon, he ended up with a bounty on his head and spent the next movie running for his life, with John Wick killing everyone trying to kill him. With the shocking conclusion of John Wick 3: Parabellum, there was no doubt that John Wick 4 was coming. The only question is how much carnage will John Wick unleash this time, and will he make it to the end alive this time? There is a new writer on board, but the action looks as stylized as expected, and the carnage remains the selling point in this surprisingly popular action franchise.

While there is a new creative team involved in the franchise, a behind-the-scenes featurette arrived from Lionsgate in February 2023, ahead of the movie's release and promises the action fans have come to love. The featurette counts down the newcomers to the John Wick franchise, including Rina Sawayama as Akira, who said Reeves makes everything look easy - but it's not. The best part of the video saw Keanu Reeves talking about how they took the action to another level in the new movie. Reeves also said he went through 12 weeks of intense training for the movie's stunt scenes, which he did himself.

Reeves said the gunplay, jiujutsu, and fight choreography are all back on target, but they wanted to add things fans had yet to see in the first three movies. He also said they were bringing back the muscle cars, and the featurette showed footage of the cars in action in the new movie. Director Chad Stahelski said that Reeves was getting too good and Reeves joked, asking if they went too far this time.

John Wick 4 Release Date

In the original John Wick 4 updates, Lionsgate scheduled the movie for a May 21, 2022, release date. It was then delayed by a week to May 27, but Lionsgate then delayed John Wick 4 by almost a full year. The reason for the delay was that 2022 was already a stacked year due to so many other delayed movies finally releasing. Instead of competing with the likes of Top Gun Maverick and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Lionsgate moved the John Wick 4 release date to March 24, 2023.

John Wick 4 Cast

Keanu Reeves is coming back as John Wick. This franchise wouldn't work without its star. Ian McShane is back as one of John Wick's only friends, Winston Scott, the manager of the New York Continental Hotel. There are also several other actors returning for this fourth effort according to John Wick 4 updates. Laurence Fishburne is back as The Bowery King, a man left for dead by the High Table, and Wick's sponsor. Lance Reddick also returns as Charon, the concierge at the Continental Hotel in New York.

As for new cast members, Bill Skarsgård joins the cast as the Marquis de Gramont, one of the High Table members who John Wick challenges. Martial arts action movie legend Donnie Yen is a blind High Table assassin, who is a close friend of John Wick. Two more martial arts legends also joined the movie with Hiroyuki Sanada and Scott Adkins. Marko Zaror was cast as a villain in the movie, the right-hand man of the Marquis de Gramont. Sadly, Sofia (Halle Berry) will not return for the movie. Other newcomers include Wynonna Earp favorite Shamier Anderson and Japanese-British singer-songwriter Rina Sawayama in her film debut.

Along with all the other newcomers, Clancy Brown has been cast in an exciting role. The actor is best known for his intimidating presence, and that'll undoubtedly be taken advantage of in the fourth movie. Brown is best known as Kurgan from Highlander and as the voice of Lex Luthor in the '90s DC animated shows. Interestingly Brown explained that his role will reveal more about the High Table. The actor let slip that it'll shed a light on "the kind of intricacies of that authority structure," referring to the High Table and that the scenes he's in are actually action-oriented.

John Wick 4 Story Details

Keanu Reeves and Halle Berry walk through the desert with dogs in John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum

The John Wick 4 updates indicate the new movie will pick up right where the third movie ended. This saw John Wick separated from The High Table and seemingly free of their control and scorn. The High Table believed he was dead when it appeared that Winston shot him off the roof of a building. However, The Bowery King took him in and nursed him back to health. The new movie takes place in the same world, but it will go further into the mythology and lore of the world of The High Table and its assassins. However, director Chad Stahelski said not to expect a happy ending.

John Wick 3 went to Casablanca, as the assassin went on a weird mythical quest in the desert, and the second movie saw Wick travel to Rome. And it seems as if the fourth movie has not just doubled down, but tripled down on the globe-trotting aspect of the series. Chapter 4 was shot in three countries outside the United States, and it looks like audiences are going to see a Continental Hotel in Japan, Germany, and France. Not only is the movie going to feel fresh thanks to these vastly different locations, but it sounds like the film is going to further expand on the series' masterclass world-building too.

The John Wick 4 updates hit overdrive when the studio released the first trailer for the new movie. That was just the start, as more trailers arrived and more looks at the action in the new movie showed up. This once again included John Wick climbing back onto a horse for some huge chases and gunplay. The final trailer for the movie ahead of its March release had the song "Woke Up This Morning" from The Sopranos, and there was John Wick with guns, swords, knives, and all sorts of violence on display.
