Ubisoft has made Rainbow Six Siege one of the more popular and most updated multiplayer shooters on the market today. The game is constantly updated with new operators, skins, maps, weapons, and more. It's no surprise then to see a new limited-time event taking place from May 4th to May 18th.

Apocalypse will take place for two weeks and in that time, players will have the opportunity to play new modes, on redesigned maps, and unlock new cosmetics for operators. Here is everything new in the Rainbow Six Siege: Apocalypse Event.

New Mode In Rainbow Six Siege: Apocalypse

The biggest addition to this update is the new mode Apocalypse, pitting two teams of five against each other as teams fight over control of the last plant on earth that could help humanity restart life in an abandoned world. The objective of the mode is like your typical bomb match where one team tries to attack and plant a bomb in a specific location while the other team defends it. The twist in this mode is the defending team can move the plant around the map. As an attacker, players can activate different scanners around the map that can help locate and identify where the plant is. This is a neat idea as attackers are used to knowing exactly where bomb locations are and defenders are used to staying in one area and defending it. Being able to move the location site itself will lead to unique gameplay styles and tense moments on both sides.

Only certain operators are available in this mode. On the attacking side, there are the Warband attackers, Fuze, Gridlock, Maverick, Nomad, and Twitch. The defending keepers include Maestro, Melusi, Rook, Smoke, and Valkyrie. Apocalypse also only takes place on the map Outback, which has been considered to be one of Rainbow Six's least balanced locations and not many players' favorite. While the map has had an aesthetic change and looks different to match the tone of the event, the map itself is still the same which may disappoint players looking for an updated version.

New Cosmetics In Rainbow Six Siege: Apocalypse

As with most Rainbow Six Updates, there are new cosmetics for players to earn, purchase, and unlock as they play through the event.  There are 35 new cosmetic items including weapons skins, charm, Operator uniforms, and Operator headgear. These cosmetics coincide with the operators available during the event, so any of the attackers from Warband or defending keeper operators can all have new cosmetics unlocked and equipped. Most of these new skins that players really want are available by purchasing bundles for 1680 R6 credits or $15 per bundle. Players will receive one Apocalypse alpha pack by logging in during the event and the rest can be purchased with real money.

Apocalypse started May 4th and runs for two weeks until May 18th. Since it's a limited-time mode, nobody knows when this mode or its rewards will return, so get out there and earn Apocalypse packs while saving humanity one plant at a time.
