In season 1 of Welcome to Plathville, none of the nine kids knew who Spider-man was. Now that the Plaths are coming back to TLC, are they just a clueless? Dad Barry and Mom Kim from Moultrie, GA have raised their children without technology, pop culture, soda, and even ice cream! But times were a-changing for the family of 11 as they ventured into adulthood on Welcome to Plathville. Going against the grain to live a normal life, turned out troublesome for the young adults, and as the Plaths left their 55-acre farm for freedom, their family faced some friction. Does season 2 of Welcome to Plathville see them embrace a new world or do the Plaths itch to return to their no-internet days?

To be a kid living in modern-day America without the internet, cell phone, and sugar, might sound like an alien concept. But the Plaths from TLC’s six-episode series Welcome to Plathville were living the lifestyle just fine. From swimmin’ in ponds to runnin’ barefoot in the grass, the Plath children aged between six to 21 were happy in their little bubble. Yet, living with strict, conservative Christian values and never having heard of Tom Brady before didn’t really prepare the Plath children for the aches of adulthood. The season 1 of Welcome to Plathville saw 17-year old Moriah Plath wanting a one-way ticket out of the ‘ville, and then there was newly-married Ethan, 21, who’s wife Olivia got him to taste his first can of Coke, and disagree with mother Kim. Compared to the notorious Duggars, the Welcome to Plathville family did manage to grab eyeballs with the first few episodes, and surprisingly enough, the sheltered Plaths have earned themselves a season 2. Now that the TLC family has splintered into separate households, far beyond the fields of their family farm, here’s how their second stint is supposed to span out.

With its season premiere in November, Welcome to Plathville, showcases three different households, with Barry, Kim, and the younger children; Ethan and Olivia; and Michal and Moriah, the teens who’ve bid the farm goodbye. According to TLC, the new chapter has all the Plaths relish newer experiences as some of them taste processed sugar, and explore new adventures like getting tattoos for the first time. Micah, who’s now a 19-year-old model has traded his cows for a new car and his somber upbringing for steamy photoshoots. The Welcome to Plathville star can be seen welcoming his new sweetheart Lexi Marie in the show, while sister Moriah who also stays with him, is now a fitness instructor and mechanic. If that’s not enough, Moriah uses her earnings to fund a music career as she meets her first boyfriend who brings a twist to her tale by wanting to meet her parents!

The Plath Family Welcome to Plathville

The married couple Ethan and Olivia who said their “I Dos” on season 1 of Welcome to Plathville, are now seen discussing divorce. The new season sees Ethan cut all contact with Kim and Barry as he tries to escape his past with Olivia and jet sets on new spiritual adventures under the Californian sun. Rebellious acts such as getting tattoos are committed, and the young TLC twosome gives it all to make their marriage work with an “appetite for fun.” Meanwhile, even Barry and Kim will be shown moving on and away from the farm into their dream house, which interestingly is a stone’s throw away from Ethan and Olivia’s. Micah and Moriah, who now know about the benefits of social media and influencing ask their Welcome to Plathville parents to give the younger siblings some leeway. But as it goes with this TLC family, old ways are hard to mend.

The flaxen-haired family with their newly acquired love for the internet and pop-culture might just become TLC’s next big bet given their unique take at life. And as long as the rest of them stay off sugar, cell-phones, and Spider-man, Welcome to Plathville will be able to provide nothing but pure, un-processed fun.
