After the massive success of dating shows like Too Hot To Handle and Dating Around, Netflix is back with another series called Indian Matchmaking. By watching this show, viewers will discover the efforts and processes that go on before an arranged marriage. This show will also give uninformed viewers the chance to understand dating and marriage practices followed in many Asian countries, especially India.

Viewers are in for a lot of fun and surprises, as this show is entirely different from other dating shows that the streaming platform has previously produced. Here, potential partners meet not to just date in a casual way but to get married at the end of the whole process. Through this series, a bunch of singles who are in their late twenties or early thirties are meeting each other... with the help of a real-life matchmaker, Sima Taparia. She's a notable Indian matchmaker based in Mumbai, and it's her goal to give "happiness to others." In her experience, today's young generation is often "fickle-minded and fussy". Therefore, they need expert guidance to find true love. Taparia is helping her clients in the States and India to meet their perfect matches. Basically, Sima gets in touch with single Millennials who want to get married and also meets their parents.

The matchmaker's job is to get to know the single Millennials' requirements for suitable mates. Sometimes, their wishes can be oddly specific. For example, a girl says she "hates comedy," meaning she won't appreciate it if her partner has a superb sense of humor. Accordingly, Sima arranges meetings between the pairs and hopes that they like each other. It sounds like a difficult job, but we have Sima to make it happen. In this show, there is going to be a twist, and we will see old customs blending in with modern values. The trailer is out - Indian Matchmaking looks fun and has an authentic vibe. The scenes don't look scripted and the cinematography is very much like Dating Around. It's likely that the production took place both in India and America. Check out the trailer below:

The most exciting part will be watching these single people meeting their potential partners for the first time... and awkwardly initiating conversations. While some may be rejected during the first meet, it looks like others are going to get married.

Netflix has a vast Indian audience and it is good to see that the platform recognizes that. The streaming platform is coming up with relatable content for Indian viewers and others. Many viewers probably know that weddings are a big deal in Indian culture. We appreciate this attempt to showcase matchmaking through a unique and interesting angle. Indian Matchmaking is going to premiere on July 16, 2020, on Netflix.
