In the 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? season 7 premiere, Andrei Castravet revealed Elizabeth “Libby” Potthast was considering singing professionally, and the dramatic change in careers surprised viewers. Elizabeth and Andrei met on Tinder while she was traveling to Dublin, Ireland. The couple connected quickly and went to Sicily, where they got engaged. Viewers were introduced to the chaotic couple in season 5 when Andrei arrived in the U.S. However, the Potthast family wasn’t too enthusiastic about their soon-to-be in-law’s behavior.
Coming from Moldova, abrasive Andrei has a way of rubbing the Potthast siblings the wrong way and creating tension. Despite his antics, Libby’s father, Chuck Potthast, has turned a blind eye and taken Andrei under his wing. The obvious favoritism infuriated 90 Day Fiancé's Libby’s brother, Charlie Potthast, and he continued to produce alcohol-induced altercations with the family. In the current season, it appears Charlie is the new villain in the Potthast plot, and Libby and Andrei are onto bigger adventures, like moving into a new home. Libby, in particular, is considering singing professionally.
In May 2019, Libby shared a video of her singing a lullaby to Eleanor. Her gorgeous vocals and soothing tones instantly took fans aback. In the caption, she revealed “I’ve always loved to sing. But now, I love it that much more!” The premier confirmed Libby’s love for singing, and Andrei offered to build a studio in their new house. In her confessional, 90 Day Fiancé's Libby stated, “I’ve never really envisioned working for my dad my whole life, and so recently I’ve been kind of toying with the idea of what I love and that’s singing.” She claims to have loved singing since she was a child, but Chuck seemed to miss the memo.
According to Chuck, he hadn’t heard her “sing a single note” and was more concerned about her role in his business. Frustrated, Libby tried to keep Andrei from sharing more. However, he revealed it was either she tries a new career or has another child, since he’s doing well in his own real estate business. Later in the episode, Libby revealed her plans to her sisters and mother, who were also supportive, but equally suspicious of Andrei’s willingness to prompt Libby’s career change.
In the past, 90 Day Fiancé's Andrei’s controlling “alpha male” behavior has caused turmoil for the duo. Usually Andrei was the one shifting among careers while Libby worked. Although Andrei still has his brash attitude, he does seem more supportive compared to seasons past. In the end, it’s only the beginning of the season, and viewers are eager to see how Libby and Andrei fare on the future episodes of 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After?
