Majora's Mask has always been a strange entry in The Legend of Zelda franchise, as it's a direct sequel to Ocarina of Time and thus reuses both characters and their in-game assets from Ocarina. It also has arguably the darkest storyline of any Zelda game to date, asking the player to relive the same three days over and over again to prevent Skull Kid from crashing the moon into the world and destroying Termina.

Released in 2000, two years after Ocarina of Time , Majora's Mask shares more with its predecessor than background lore. In fact, Majora's Mask reuses quite a few character models, most likely to help speed up development time between games. But there are many beloved characters for any Zelda fan playing Majora's Mask for the first time to be on the lookout for, especially if they've played Ocarina.

Some appearances are more obvious than others, but one Reddit user who goes by "blah________________" posted a rather comprehensive list of characters populating both Termina and Hyrule across the two games. For the purposes of this article, each character listed has both the same name and the same character model, which excludes characters like Tatl, which use the same character models but are, technically, new and different characters for the world of Termina.

Biggoron & Medigoron

Biggoron Ocarina of Time

Unlike the aforementioned Reddit post, for the purposes of this article, entire races like the Zora and Gorons won't count as reused characters considering they're background characters without defined traits or names in the first place. However, there are members of Zelda's Goron race who do appear in both Ocarina of Time and Majoria's Mask, like Biggoron and his brother, Medigoron. These aren't the only Gorons to appear in each game, though, and Link the Goron, who is named after the player character's Link in Ocarina of Time, makes a cameo in Majora's Mask as well.

Dampé, Kotake, & Koume

Dampe Digging A Grave In Front Of Link And Navi

Another character who longtime fans of the Zelda series will recognize immediately is Dampé, the graveyard keeper, who players can interact with to find treasure like rupees and heart pieces. Meanwhile, Ganondorf's dedicated servants, Kotake and Koume, also appear in both games, which is exciting for fans of Zelda lore since the two are twin Gerudo witches who attempt to hinder Link's plans in Ocarina of Time but decide to help him out by the time Majora's Mask rolls around.

Granny

Zelda Majora Granny

Granny, who owns the potions shop in Kakariko Village in Ocarina of Time, is also in Majora's Mask, although she does not reprise her role as a shopkeeper and instead serves as a storyteller who causes Link to fall asleep constantly until he can get a special mask to stay awake and finally pay attention.

Composer Brothers, Poe Sisters, & More

Zelda Ocarina Composer

The deceased composers, known as, of course, the Composer Brothers, who served the Royal Family are in both games as well, haunting various areas of Hyrule, much like the four Poe sisters, who are also featured in Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask. Other than these characters, the only other reused models are for the Cursed Rich Man, who actually appears as a skulltula, and the Bean Seller, who assists Link in reaching new areas in both games by selling him magic beans.

While that's every character (in both model and name) from Ocarina of Time who was reused for Majora's Mask, there are plenty of reused models and designs, like Navi's for Tatl and Tale, that were used to create entirely new characters specifically for Majora's Mask.
