2021 still has some amazing video games on the way, especially now that the schedule has been fleshed out by E3 2021. The pandemic threw the production of a lot of video games into chaos, which might be why so many games were announced a lot later than they normally would have been.
2020 saw the release of the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, but the continuing shortages for the new systems mean that lots of players will have to rely on their PS4 and Xbox Ones for a little longer. Luckily, the bulk of the games coming out in the rest of 2021 that are multi-platform are also cross-gen, so players won't be missing out on the biggest titles of the year. As it stands, it's the Nintendo Switch that has the most exclusives remaining in 2021.
The following entries contain the biggest games that are still to be released in 2021. These only include games with a solid release date or release month. The mid-way point of the year is here, and any game that still has "2021" as its release date is looking increasingly like it's going to be delayed.
Games Still Releasing in 2021 - July
July is a strong month for the Nintendo Switch, with a new Monster Hunter, a remake of The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, the long-awaited sequel to The World Ends With You, and the first version of Pokémon Unite. Cris Tales is an RPG that's coming to lots of platforms, but it's receiving a day one launch on Xbox Game Pass, as is The Ascent.

August has a few more Game Pass launch titles, with both Lemnis Gate and Psychonauts 2 coming to the service on day one. No More Heroes 3 finally launches on Nintendo Switch this month, while Amazon Games' MMORPG New World is making its way to PC after being delayed for over a year.

Fans of retro PC games will be able to battle the armies of Hell once more in September, as Diablo 2: Resurrected launches on a number of different platforms. The sequel to Judgment will return to Kamurocho, while players can team up to complete minigames in the new WarioWare game. September will also see some big shooter titles, with Deathloop and Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Extraction launching within days of each other/

Games Still Releasing in 2021 - October
October is a huge month for games in 2021. In the space of a few days, players will be able to battle for the fate of Yara in Far Cry 6, navigate Samus Aran through an alien world in Metroid Dread, and survive hordes of undead in Back 4 Blood, which is a spiritual successor to Left 4 Dead. The Guardians of the Galaxy is also coming to numerous platforms, but it bears mentioning that the Switch version is a cloud streaming game, so its quality will likely match the Internet speed of the player.

One of the biggest games in November was originally released for the PS3/Xbox 360, but it's now one of the best-selling video games of all time, so the current-gen versions of Grand Theft Auto 5 deserve a spot on this list. The Switch is receiving some big exclusives in Shin Megami Tensei 5 and Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, while the story of the Scions of the Seventh Dawn will come to a close in the latest expansion for FF14.
