One of the cornerstones of Star Wars, and one of the most iconic things to come from the franchise, is the lightsaber. It is an elegant weapon (for a more civilized age) that has led to battles that have consistently been some of, if not the best parts of Star Wars movies since 1977.

They are prominent in most pieces of Star Wars media, and the fantastic show Star Wars Rebels is no different. There is a load of lightsabers to be admired in the series. So, here are the lightsabers in Star Wars Rebels ranked.

THE TWO-PART SABER - KANAN JARRUS

The reveal that Kanan Jarrus was, in fact, a Jedi Knight at the end of Rebels' first episode was a great one. He took two parts from his belt, connected them, and ignited the iconic blue, revealing his identity.

A quick note is that Lightsabers are fantastic, but one had to fall at the bottom. That goes to Kanan's because, while practical for hiding, the detachability of the saber is toy-esque.

GOING CONVENTIONAL - EZRA BRIDGER

When Ezra Bridger lost his first, more unique lightsaber, he had to craft a second. He moved to a more conventional design, opting for green over blue.

Again, there is nothing wrong with the blade; it is pretty slick with a solid hilt. But it is a downstep from Ezra's first blade and lacks the same character.

SAW SABER - EIGHTH BROTHER

Eighth Brother Double Spinning Lightsaber

The Inquisitors all have similar lightsabers. The first we see will be talked about later, but for now, the three other Inquisitors fans are treated to in Rebels.

There is not much separating the three, but the Eighth Brother's design is perhaps the most boring of the spinning blade. Plus, its ability to turn into a saw-like weapon is up to personal opinion but is not the best feature of a lightsaber.

STANDARD SPINNING SABER - SEVENTH SISTER

The Seventh Sister faces off against Ahsoka in Star Wars Rebels

Another of the four Inquisitor's fans see in Rebels, the Seventh Sister, had extra curves on her saber, with a robust design on the hilt of the two blades.

It is a cool lightsaber with some unique textures and added curves. The Seventh Sister is a good character in the show, but her lightsaber is not going to spring to mind immediately.

A BIGGER SPINNER - FIFTH BROTHER

The final of the three regular Inquisitors' lightsabers, the Fifth Brother, has a blade similar to that of the Grand Inquisitor, but it is a bigger lightsaber all round.

It has an inner and outer ring, with indents on the exterior, and reasonably good design on the hilt itself.

CROSSGUARD - ANCIENT JEDI KNIGHTS

Kylo Ren's unstable crossguard is one of the best in Star Wars. It was not first used by him, though; it was favored by practitioners of Makashi (Form II) in the olden days of the Jedi.

Many of these Jedi took part in the Great Scourge of Malachor. When our heroes go to Malachor in Rebels, Ezra finds and ignites one of these lightsabers, a broken one that, had it worked and been cleaner, would be higher on this list.

THIRD TIMES A CHARM - OBI-WAN KENOBI

Obi-Wan tends to lose his lightsaber, with the one that appears in Rebels being his third owned lightsaber. It is the classic seen in A New Hope.

It is a standard blue saber, and the scene that fans are treated to it in, with Obi-Wan's final battle with Maul, is outstanding. It is the saber he constructed as a Jedi Master, with a more flashier look than his previous two.

THE FIRST - ANAKIN SKYWALKER

Ahsoka and Ezra watch a holo recording of Anakin Skywalker's teachings in Star Wars Rebels

The first-ever lightsaber seen in Star Wars is perhaps the most iconic. It is that one passed through generations from Anakin Skywalker to Luke Skywalker, to Rey, to Ben Solo, and it makes a brief appearance in Rebels.

While watching a hologram of Ahsoka's old master, she and Ezra, as well as the fans, catch a glimpse of the iconic metal, round hilt saber. It may not be the most beautiful or unique, but it is a special lightsaber.

BLASTER SABER - EZRA BRIDGER

Jedi are not supporters of using blasters. Then again, Ezra Bridger at the start of Rebels, and even as it progressed, was not a conventional Jedi.

After getting his kyber crystal from Lothal, Ezra used parts donated to him from the Ghost crew, such as a blaster from Sabine, and a power cell from Chopper. It is indicative of Ezra's personality, and while not to everyone's taste, is a unique lightsaber representative of Ezra and his journey.

THE DOUBLE-BLADED SPINNING SABER - THE GRAND INQUISITOR

The Grand Inquisitor holds his lightsaber in Star Wars: Rebels.

The Grand Inquisitor's lightsaber is another not to everyone's liking. But it is the best, and first fans see of the Inquisitor's spinning lightsabers.

Like the others, it has a single-blade, and double-blade feature, as well as being rotating used in combat to unnerve enemies and to float away. It is the best design of the Inquisitor sabers in Rebels and fits the great Grand Inquisitor well.

DECREPIT DISGUISED SABER - MAUL

Thanks to The Clone Wars and Rebels, Maul is one of Star Wars' best characters. By the time of Rebels, his hatred and quest for Obi-Wan have well and truly consumed him, and he is surviving through it.

His lightsaber is scrappy and looks done in, just like him. It is double-bladed, but he uses wood to masquerade the hilt as a walking stick when he poses as a feeble older man. It is another lightsaber representative of the character, broken.

HINGED DOUBLE-BLADED LIGHTSABER - JEDI TEMPLE GUARD

Jedi Temple Guards wielding their lightsabers in Star Wars Rebels.

In Rebels, when Kanan experiences a Force vision where he meets Jedi Temple Guards, and a fight ensues, allowing fans the sight of their lightsabers.

Some Guards opted to use these hinged double-bladed lightsabers over the lightsaber pikes (which are visible on the lightsaber rack in the vision but do not get used, so do not get on this list). They have gorgeous looking hilts reminiscent of the Guard's armor, as well as the rare and beautiful yellow kyber crystals.

ICONIC DARK SIDE SABER - DARTH VADER

Ezra and Kanan vs Vader in Star Wars Rebels

The top three of this list all depend on personal taste for which one is the best. First up is the iconic dark hilt and red blade of one Darth Vader.

It is a lightsaber that is intimidating, with a presence unlike any other. It is very similar to Anakin Skywalker's but darker and somehow far more intense. Menacing, instantly recognizable, and part of some of Rebels' best moments in season two, it is a brilliant saber for an all-time great character.

DARKSABER - TARRE VIZSLA (& OTHERS)

Created by Tarre Vizsla, the Darksaber is one of the most unique weapons in Star Wars. In Rebels, it is passed around from Sabine to Kanan (for safekeeping), eventually ending up with Bo-Katan Kryze.

It is more like an actual sword, with a rectangular-shaped hilt with a guard. The standout, of course, is the black blade that sticks out wonderfully. It is an immensely popular weapon that is an iconic piece of Mandalorian lore and is sure to have more history in Star Wars going forward.

WHITE DUAL WIELD - AHSOKA TANO

Ahsoka Tano with White Lightsabers Star Wars Rebels

Ahsoka Tano is one of Star Wars' very best female characters. Her growth throughout The Clone Wars was fantastic, and her arrival in Rebels likewise. Ahsoka's new lightsabers in Rebels were indicators, both of her growth and her affiliations in terms of the Force.

No longer a Jedi, the beautiful white blades represent her alignment in the Force and are as rare as they are aesthetically pleasing. The white comes from crystals she obtained after defeating the Sixth Brother and purifying his lightsaber crystals. As for the hilts, one is a shoto-style saber, while the other is a single-blade, both of which curved in appearance, made from scrap metal but later modified to be more functional, with a better look.
