Some fans have lamented that leveling up the Battle Pass for Fortnite Season 4 appears to be something of a challenge, as there is not as much free XP being given away as there has been in previous seasons. To make matters a little more difficult, this season's Battle Pass skins feature some fan-favorite Marvel characters that players are more than eager to unlock. It seems, however, that the Fortnite devs have been listening, because a new secret challenge that went active during Week 3 of the season offers players an extra 20,000 XP for checking out some advertising for the infamous Fortnite garden gnomes.

Back in Season 2, players could find a series of secret challenges worth extra XP helping out in the war between the garden gnomes and the teddy bears. Players took a break from the gnomes in Season 3 to help the Coral Buddies and the astronaut instead, though the gnomes made a brief appearance. This season, the gnomes are back and ready to give out some much-needed XP to players interested in the Event of the Year. To complete this challenge, players will need to find a gnome on The Authority's island and stand beside him. Here's where to find the gnome and how to complete the secret challenge in Fortnite Season 4.

This challenge is simple, and likely the most difficult thing about it will be finding the exact location of the gnome. The player will need to find the gnome hanging out on the northeast corner of The Authority's island, right on the shore of the lake. This gnome will be facing a billboard advertising Super Slurp Juice.

To complete the challenge, the player will need to go stand beside the gnome and also observe the sign. They will earn 20,000 XP for doing so.

This season, the main focus of the game is on the Nexus War and the Marvel characters entering the massive crossover event. However, based on some information from dataminers, it seems a new substance called Super Slurp is on its way into the game and is associated with the gnomes. Some players have speculated this could indicate the addition of a new support item, but only time will tell. As with other secret challenges in Fortnite in previous seasons, there are likely to be several more opportunities for players to find hidden fetch quests and earn bonus XP. Players will also continue earning XP for completing Weekly Challenges, finishing well in matches, and finding XP Coins each week.
