CCP Games, developers of the popular space-based MMO EVE Online, announced a mobile game addition to the EVE universe back in October at EVE Vegas 2017. Titled "Project Aurora" at the time and co-developed by PlayRaven, the mobile game is a standalone free-to-play MMO based on the core elements of EVE Online.

During EVE Fanfest 2018 in Reykjavik, Iceland, Project Auroro's real title EVE: War of Ascension was revealed alongside news it will release in 2018 for Android and iOS devices. There's a playable build currently available for Fanfest attendees but only for Android at the moment.

Publisher Kongregate has partnered with CCP Games and PlayRaven to publish EVE: War of Ascension on iOS and Android. The game aims to take the complexities and depth of EVE Online and make it accessible for mobile users with the aim of broadening out EVE fanbase. In EVE: War of Ascension, players must work together, forming alliances and partnerships to dominate the galaxy and become the most powerful corporation in the universe.

Designed to appeal to both the franchise’s fans as well as more casual players, EVE: War of Ascension establishes a vast, open world, inspiring players to engage in ways that interest them. True to the EVE universe, the game will allow players to create their own stories, choosing to work cooperatively with other players or to fight them for resources. As players progress further in the game, they’ll hunt for mysterious relics that unlock new unexplored areas of space. The game will feature engaging weekly events as well as limited-time promotions.

CCP Games CEO Hilmar Veigar Pétursson:

“EVE: War of Ascension is our first mobile game at CCP and we’re so excited to bring the EVE universe to a new and massive audience. Our goal is to bring our CCP DNA to the mobile market: player-driven content, social interaction, and massive scale collaboration. With great partners like PlayRaven and Kongregate, we’re seeing our vision become a reality.”

Emily Greer, president and co-founder of Kongregate:

“EVE Online has always been an incredible online world, but as one of the most complex and interesting MMO games on PC, it wasn’t always accessible to a broad audience. So when we got the opportunity to partner with CCP and PlayRaven on a mobile EVE experience, we couldn’t have been more excited. Bringing the community, intrigue, and universe of EVE to millions of mobile players later this year is a banner moment for our publishing program.”
