All four Evangelion films are now available to stream on Amazon Prime at no extra cost. It all started with the Japanese mecha anime Neon Genesis Evangelion, which aired from 1995-1996. The series was directed by Hideaki Anno and debuted on TV Tokyo. The story is set around teenage Shinji fifteen years after the world has broken into chaos. He's brought on board by his father to pilot a mecha called Evangelion against those called Angels. The franchise now includes film series, manga, and many other merchandise products.

A movie series by the name of Rebuild of Evangelion started in 2007 with Evangelion: 1.0 You Are (Not) Alone. The follow-up installments include Evangelion: 2.0 You Can (Not) Advance, and Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo. The series acts as a retelling of the classic television series, although it includes a lot of new content, including a new ending. The fourth and newest Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time picks up shortly after the previous installment. Shinji, Asuka, and Rei wander Japan, while Misato and her group attempt to heal Paris due to it turning red from coreization.

Each installment in the film franchise has progressively brought in more money at the box office, with Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time performing the best with over a $92 million gross. Fans of the series have been highly anticipating the fourth and final installment of the Rebuild of Evangelion film franchise. It had been delayed from 2015 several times, although it finally hit Japan in March 2021. With it now being available on Amazon Prime, folks will be able to enjoy it from the comfort of their own homes.

Anime has proven to be a heavy-hitter as far as content that attracts consumers to streaming service platforms. With platforms such as Crunchyroll and Funimation specifically targeting this medium, even the more mainstream streaming services have been both acquiring existing anime properties and making their own original ones. Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime have all been investing in the medium. Evangelion has had a very loyal and dedicated following for years, so it's a big deal that Amazon Prime managed to secure all four of the Rebuild of Evangelion film franchises. While it's exciting that they have the first three installments, the biggest news is that the fourth and final entry is finally going to be widely accessible after the long wait.
