Evan Peters was always going to be WandaVision's Quicksilver. The MCU's first show has had a good amount of twists and turns during its run. One of the biggest twists of all, though, was the reintroduction of Pietro Maximoff aka Quicksilver, Wanda's twin brother. This time, though, Quicksilver is played by Evan Peters. Peters played a version of Quicksilver, just not the MCU's. Peters starred in several X-Men films as Peter Maximoff, sans Wanda, and his appearance in the MCU raised all sorts of questions.

Unfortunately, those questions have yet to be answered. In fact, after the twist at the end of WandaVision episode 7, it seems there are just more questions. Kathryn Hahn's Agnes was revealed to be Agatha Harkness all along and during her now iconic reveal, Agatha was shown as being in control of Pietro when he first knocked on the door of Wanda and Vision's house. What that means for the character remains unclear, but it seems as if the plan is going exactly the way it was meant to go.

Kevin Feige revealed (via Alex Zalben) that Peters joining the MCU as his version of Quicksilver was discussed at the very beginning of WandaVision's development. Feige says that they parse through everything to make sure it will fit in the world that they are building. Still, they came to the conclusion that Peters' Quicksilver would be the one to make an appearance early on and they stuck by that decision.

While Peters may have always been a part of the plan, what that plan is, is one of the many mysteries still lingering around WandaVision. Merchandise has hinted that Peters' Quicksilver is not Quicksilver at all and that seems to be backed up by the conclusion of last week's episode. Agatha Harkness is an extremely powerful sorceress, so it's not out of the question that she could manipulate someone's appearance to make them look like Wanda's dead twin brother from another dimension.

More and more, it's looking like Peters' Quicksilver is a big fake out. While many hoped that it meant Quicksilver hopped over through the Multiverse, thus making the X-Men films canon in the MCU, it seems to be much more complicated than that.  WandaVision has yet to unveil its biggest mysteries - those will be saved for the final two episodes, the first of which airs this Friday. Quicksilver's origins may finally be revealed, and the real reason why Peters was asked to come back may not be what fans think.
