Based on a True Story, or D'après une Histoire Vrai, is a French-language film starring Eva Green and directed by the controversial, to say the least, Roman Polanksi. The film follows a best selling author, played by Eva Green, who confides in a young woman named Elle after she becomes overwhelmed by the notion of writing again.

Despite the fact that many critics praised the performances of the cast, with Eva Green in particular turning in a strong performance, the movie received mixed reviews from critics.

Dumbo: 47%

2019's Dumbo was another installment in Disney's recent crusade to remake their catalog of animated classics into live-action movies. Directed by Tim Burton and starring Colin Farrell, Michael Keaton, Danny DeVito, and Eva Green; the movie's all-star cast certainly helped attract cinema-goers.

That being said, despite the stellar reputation of the cast and director, the movie would only go on to receive mixed to average reviews from critics.

White Bird in a Blizzard perfectly combines elements from the coming of age genre with the thrilling themes of mystery and crime movies. Starring Shailene Woodley and Eva Green, White Bird in a Blizzard follows 17 year old Kat as she comes to terms with her sexuality just as her mysterious mother vanishes.

Despite strong performances from Woodley and Green, White Bird in a Blizzard received mixed reviews from critics, with many suggesting that the movie did not delve into the relationship between mother and daughter as much as it should have.

Perfect Sense: 57%

Starring Ewan McGregor and Eva Green, Perfect Sense follows two individuals who form a close romantic bond during the end of the world. The film has an interesting pandemic concept with equally interesting and strong performances from both Green and McGregor.

Despite winning the Edinburgh Film Festival's prize for Best New British Feature, the movie would go on to receive mixed reviews from critics, with many believing that the film did not reach its full potential.

Franklyn: 57%

The feature film debut of director Gerald McMorrow is one of the boldest and most interesting cinematic debuts of all time. The film follows four different characters across two different locations, one of which is the modern world of contemporary London and the other is a futuristic city known as Meanwhile City.

While critics did praise the performances of the cast, as well as the ambition of McMorrow, many critics believed that the movie doesn't quite mesh together.

The Dreamers: 60%

The Dreamers is set during the hectic and politically fragile Paris of the 1960s, with the movie following a group of three cinema lovers. The movie has garnered a reputation for its sexually charged plot, with the director of the movie using the film's sexuality as an art form.

Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children: 64%

Directed by the legendary Tim Burton and based on the book of the same name, Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children follows a young boy named Jake as he discovers a home for peculiar children that houses children with special powers and abilities.

The film has the magic and style we've come to associate with Tim Burton's movies but also includes a star cast with Eva Green, Samuel L Jackson, Terence Stamp, and Dame Judi Dench all starring.

The Salvation: 72%

2015's the Salvation is a thrilling western directed by Kristian Levring and starring Eva Green, Mads Mikkelsen, and Jeffrey Dean Morgan. The film follows Mikkelsen's character as he triggers a tornado of carnage in the wild-west to get revenge for the murders of his wife and son.

The film received positive reviews from critics, with many praising the movie for its stellar take on the western genre, as well as for the performances of Mikkelsen and Green.

Proxima: 82%

Proxima is a 2019 French drama movie that follows Eva Green's character, Sarah, a French astronaut training at the Space Centre in Cologne. The movie is centered around the relationship between Sarah and her 7-year-old daughter, showing Sarah's guilt that she is unable to spend more time with her daughter. The relationship between mother and daughter becomes even more strained after Sarah is selected to be part of a year-long space mission known as Proxima.

While Proxima may not have made a huge mark world-wide, it was almost universally praised by those who had indeed seen the movie. Critics praised the movie for its ability to explore various themes to a satisfying, while also praising Green in her role as Sarah, with some critics suggesting it is the best performance of her career.

Casino Royale: 95%

Casino Royale Vesper Lynd Eva Green

For many, this was the role that introduced the world to Eva Green. Starring as the iconic Vesper Lynd in the 2006 soft-reboot of the James Bond franchise, Eva Green's fantastic performance, coupled with her incredible chemistry with Daniel Craig as James Bond, helped to re-launch the franchise into its modern form.

The film followed James Bond as he tried to win a high stakes poker tournament in the titular Casino Royale, though the movie also delved more into James Bond's emotions and this was shown most clearly in his relationship with Vesper Lynd.
