This last Sunday, January 9th at 9 pm EST, the series that swept the nation, Euphoria, premiered its second season. The long-awaited season premiere was stalled due to COVID-19 back in March 2020 when the new season was supposed to be filmed. Fans have been anxiously awaiting to see what would happen to Rue and Jules after the special episode that broke everyone's heart.

Euphoria's Emmy award-winning cast has been patiently awaiting the premiere of the latest season to share it with its fans, because of how they left everything off in season one and the special episode. But, in case you missed anything, there are a few to know before starting this season.

Zendaya Warns Audiences About Serious Topics In The New Season

One of the most important things to know before watching Euphoria season two is that this season (even more than the last) is "deeply emotional and deals with subject matter that can be triggering and difficult to watch," as Zendaya explains on her Instagram.

This warning is similar to ones that were made prior to season two, but this season is supposed to be even more difficult to watch for sensitive viewers. On the Euphoria Instagram, they have shared helplines for those who need it, via texting "EUPHORIA" to 741741. This line is free crisis support in the U.S. available 24/7.

Rue Is Still Doing Drugs

After Jules left her at the train station, Rue relapsed significantly, so sobriety is no longer on the table. One of the major questions of season one was whether or not Rue could stay sober, and after her special episode, it seemed like she could. But, Jules leaving her made it nearly impossible for her to stick with her sobriety.

So, will Rue get sober in season two? And will she be able to keep her sobriety? Or, will she fall into the grip of her addiction even more? Only time will tell.

Kat & Ethan Are Dating

At the end of the first season, Kat and Ethan finally got together, so here's what to remember about what happened between them. They had a lot of back and forth and miscommunication in the first season, and at one point, Kat thought that Ethan was talking to another girl at the carnival, but it turns out that this other girl is actually just his cousin.

At the end of last season, once Kat found out that it was, in fact, just his cousin, she decided to put things in the past to start her relationship with Ethan. In season two, it's possible there will be more screen time for these two, and potentially an opportunity to see their relationship grow.

Lexi Is Ready To Find Someone

Lexi, Cassie’s sister, is a character that deserves more screen time than she got last season. The last conversation Lexi had on-screen during season one was with Cassie where she asked her how to get guys "to like you."

So, what should we expect from Lexi in season two? Hopefully, she'll finally get the screentime she warrants and enters a new stage in life where she finally gets a significant other.

There Are Three New Characters

Dominic Fike as Elliot on Euphoria

One thing to note is that there are three new characters in season two that everyone should watch out for. These new characters will be played by Minka Kelly, Demetrius “Lil Meech” Flenory Jr., and Dominic Fike. The most notable of these new characters is Dominic Fike who plays Elliot in Euphoria, who is potentially going to drive a rift between Rue and Jules based on the season’s trailer and teaser.

In the trailer, Rue says to Elliot: “you’re my new favorite person,” so will he come in between Jules and Rue? Or will their relationship stand strong?

Watch The Trailer For A Sneak Peak On New Drama

In case anyone missed it, the season two trailer and teaser brought some serious drama to the screen, and it's left everyone wondering what's going to happen in the new season. It appears as though Cassie might have a romantic, or at the very least physical, relationship with Nate, which only begs the question of what this will do to Cassie and Maddy’s friendship.

Another thing that happens in the trailer is there’s a clip of Kat with everyone around her screaming at her. This could mean a variety of things, but one of the most interesting is the potential of everyone finding out about what Kat does for money, and it’s a reaction to that.

Maddy & Cassie Might Lose Their Friendship

After looking at the season two trailer and teaser, it's clear that Maddy and Cassie are going to have some conflict, and they might even lose their friendship. In the trailer, there’s a clip of Cassie with Nate half-naked in his room, along with a clip of Nate saying to Cassie, “you’re like a relationship kind of girl, right?” This suggests that a kind of relationship forms between Cassie and Nate.

Although Cassie isn’t making the greatest of decisions, they are hers to make and time will tell what her actions do her relationship with Maddy. But, there’s one thing for sure, everyone can expect a huge confrontation between Maddy and Cassie when the time comes.

Nate Is Still A Part Of The Picture

To everyone's dismay, it appears as though Nate is still in the show and will return for season two, according to the trailer and teaser, and he might be bringing even more drama than he did in the first season.

Cassie getting involved with Nate is potentially only the tip of the iceberg of things he’s capable of doing in season two, but we don’t know for sure yet what those things are. There is a gun in the trailer of this season - does Nate have something to do with it?

Cassie & Nate Might Have Something Together

Again, after looking at the trailer and teaser, it appears as though the reason for the rift in Cassie and Maddy's relationship is Nate. So, what happened? It looks as though Cassie and Nate might get together in season two, based on the clip where he confirms with her that she’s a relationship kind of girl, as well as the clip where we see Cassie half-naked in his bedroom.

There’s no telling for sure what kind of repercussions this could cause for everyone around them, but at least Nate is getting what he wants: another perfect girl.

Rue & Jules Are Broken Up

When Jules left Rue at the train station, only to leave her to relapse yet again, the status of their relationship is starkly clear. They are no longer together. And the teaser for season two suggests that there might be a new love interest for Rue. So, what will season two bring? Will they get back together? Or is this the last of Rue and Jules?

There is a clip in the season trailer where it seems as though Rue and Jules are kissing, but because of the lighting is hard to tell. So, there’s only one thing left to do: check out the season two premiere on HBO Max to find out what’s really going on with Jules and Rue.
