The trailer for Euphoria season 2, episode 5 teases police activity and Rue's downfall. The Spider-Man: No Way Home actress, Zendaya, stars in HBO's critically-acclaimed drama as Rue Bennett, a teenager struggling with drug addiction who falls for the new transgender girl at her high school, Jules (Hunter Schafer). The pandemic caused a long layoff between seasons 1 and 2, which saw the release of two special episodes, one each for Rue and Jules focusing on their mental state in the wake of their surprising split during the Euphoria season 1 finale.

Euphoria season 2 premiered on January 9, picking up with Rue after her relapse. Rue also gets back together with Jules, though their relationship has been complicated by the introduction of Elliot (Dominic Fike). Another love triangle has emerged between Nate (Jacob Elordi), Cassie (Sydney Sweeney), and Maddy (Alexa Demie). Lexi (Maude Apatow) has also been moving forward with plans for her play, which is sure to make waves later on in the season.

Now, the trailer for Euphoria season 2, episode 5 is here, previewing the events of the next chapter. The points of emphasis in the promo appear to be the police activity and Rue's continued downfall. Check out the trailer below:

The trailer for Euphoria season 2, episode 5 is fairly brief, though it doesn't contain any shots of Rue. This is especially ominous considering how last episode saw her take a handful of pills and envision herself reuniting with her deceased father at a church service, seemingly suggesting Rue had died. However, she was soon shown slow-dancing with a pillow in her room, suggesting it was all just a drug-induced vision. The trailer for next week's episode isn't too reassuring though as it features shots of nearly every characters' shocked reactions, most notably of Rue's mother (Nika King) comforting her weeping sister, Gia (Storm Reid).

It's unlikely though that Rue will die at the halfway point of the season, and the promo does offer hope as Laurie (Martha Kelly) appears to be speaking to her, warning Rue about the effects of using drugs long-term. Instead, it's much more likely Rue has overdosed again. In terms of what this trailer means for the show's supporting characters, the police activity is not a good omen for the drug dealer Fez (Angus Cloud), as he and Ashtray (Javon Walton) murdered their supplier, Mouse, earlier in the season. Find out what happens to Rue and Fez when the next episode of Euphoria airs Sunday night on HBO.
