Euphoria season 3's time jump could span as many as five years. Over two seasons, the acclaimed teen drama created by Sam Levinson has followed Zendaya's Rue, a recovering drug addict, and her array of emotionally-troubled friends as they navigate the many pitfalls of high school life. Ever since the Euphoria season 2 ending hinted at a time jump, speculation has run rampant regarding how many years into the future the third season will be set, and what the show will look like.

In a recent interview with Vogue, a costume designer from the show revealed some potential details about Euphoria season 3's time jump. Though she has yet to read the scripts for the third season, Heidi Bivens says "there is talk of it being approximately five years in the future" with the characters no longer in high school. Read her full comments below:

I’ll do everything I can to make the third season of the show successful. I’m really excited to read the scripts. There is talk of it being approximately five years in the future, and that they’re not in high school anymore. Dorothy’s not in Kansas anymore. I mean, it might be a total trip. Who can say? But knowing Sam’s brain, it’s gonna be exciting, and he will challenge all of us, because he won't want to repeat himself. It’ll be something new for the audience to discover.

Euphoria season 2 ends with narration from Rue revealing she remained clean for the rest of the school year. This hinted at the next season beginning with a time jump to the start of the next school year. However, Zendaya wants Euphoria season 3 to jump ahead further in time and explore the characters' lives after high school. Though the Euphoria costume designer has yet to actually read any scripts, she confirms there is talk of Euphoria season 3 jumping ahead about five years in the future with the characters out of high school, just as Zendaya suggested.

First off, a five-year time jump would benefit Euphoria season 3 by ensuring the actors are closer to the actual ages of the characters they are playing. However, it would completely change the dynamic of the show, which has so far been a high school drama. Five years into the future, most of the characters will have graduated and moved on to college, which would provide little reason for many of them to interact with one another. Though Euphoria season 3 taking place post-high school has yet to be confirmed, there are some signs pointing to it actually happening.
