Storm Reid hopes Euphoria season 3 will be less heartbreaking. Over two seasons, HBO's teen drama from the mind of Sam Levinson has garnered a reputation for being relentlessly explicit and difficult to watch. Euphoria stars Zendaya as a recovering teenage drug addict struggling with relationships, mental health, and identity in addition to her sobriety. On the HBO show, Reid stars as Gia, the often-overlooked younger sister of Zendaya's Rue. Since the show's season 2 ended almost one year ago, there have been few updates on Euphoria season 3.

During a recent exclusive Screen Rant interview with Tatiana Hullender, Storm Reid shared her personal hopes for Euphoria season 3 while promoting her new movie Missing.

The actor hopes the forthcoming season is filled with smiles and laughter for Gia, while her overall hope for season 3 is less heartbreaking. See Reid's full comments below:

"Gia, I hope that you get to smile. I hope you get to laugh. I hope you get some ice cream or something! No, I hope we get to see Gia [smile] more, but my overarching hope for season 3 is just more levity, more joy, more grace. I think we have covered the entire spectrum of emotions in Euphoria over the last two seasons, so hopefully season 3 is a little less heartbreaking."

Everything We Know About Euphoria Season 3

Since Euphoria season 2 came to a dramatic end in February 2022, there haven't been many substantial updates on the status of the third season. This is likely because the show's primary writer and director, Sam Levinson, has been busy with another HBO show, The Idol, which he co-created along with The Weeknd and will premiere sometime in 2023. On the other hand, Euphoria season 2 skyrocketed the show into Game of Thrones-level popularity, and there is now a substantial fan base anxiously waiting for season 3.

This is especially true since Euphoria season 2 ended on several cliffhangers, including Fez and Ashtray being shot, Cal's arrest, and the fallout of Lexi's play. Instead of picking up directly in the aftermath of these events, Euphoria season 3 will likely feature a time jump, as hinted by Rue's narration during the season 2 finale. Like Reid, Zendaya hopes Rue will experience happiness in season 3. Since Rue stayed clean for the rest of the school year and is cautiously hopeful about the future, Zendaya and Reid might just get their wish, or perhaps the season 2 finale has already hinted at her inevitable relapse.

Euphoria season 3 will bring back most of its core cast, including Zendaya as Rue and Reid as Gia, though the show did lose a main cast member – Barbie Ferreira, who played Kat. Reports have indicated that Euphoria season 3 could start filming in February 2023, which means it likely won't premiere until early 2024. All things considered, Euphoria season 3 probably won't be released for a long time.
