Euphoria season 3 could be filming early next year, with new episodes possibly releasing in 2024. The teen drama, created by Sam Levinson, has grabbed headlines since it first premiered on HBO in 2019. The show gave the spotlight to its lead star Zendaya as the unreliable narrator Rue Bennett, with her performance nabbing a history-making Emmy win as the youngest recipient of the Outstanding Lead Drama Actress award. But it also highlighted a bevy of fresh faces, giving them room to shine with strong scripts and memorably tense situations.

Euphoria season 2, which premiered earlier this year, turned up that tension. By the time the divisive finale rolled around, friendships were shattered, reputations were ruined, and a character seemed to be killed off. All of these elements have only added to the appeal of the series which garnered the distinction of being HBO's second most-watched show across all platforms. Euphoria was second only to Game of Thrones.

Collider reports that Euphoria season 3 will potentially be filming in February 2023. However, as mentioned by make-up artist Donni Davy, the teen drama could begin shooting as early as later this year. That remains unconfirmed. On the whole, because each individual episode takes a month to film and prepare, it's likely that new episodes won't arrive until 2024.

Plot details remain unknown, though it was recently announced that Barbie Ferreira would not be reprising her role as Kat Hernandez. For her part, Zendaya has said that she'd be interested in stepping into the director's chair. She also noted a desire to explore a version of the series that would examine life beyond high school. A potential time jump, hinted for Euphoria season 3, could allow this to happen. Rue's closing narration when viewers last saw her indicated that the story won't pick up where it left off. Once production begins, a clearer picture could emerge of what to expect.

There has been an argument that, due to Zendaya's busy schedule and the wild storytelling of Euphoria, the HBO hit can't continue too long for too long without losing fundamental parts of what has made it one of television's most interesting offerings. If it can keep that tendency going for its third outing, perhaps it would be easier to imagine a future where Levinson's busy and buzzing world becomes something of a long-running franchise. But, in the more immediate sense, most fans are just eager to hear that season 3 is underway.
