Zendaya has responded to rumors that Tom Holland was secretly an extra on Euphoria season 2. Two of Hollywood's fastest rising stars, Zendaya and Holland confirmed their relationship back in December of 2021. The two starred together in the MCU's Spider-Man trilogy, with Holland portraying Peter Parker/Spider-Man and Zendaya portraying Michelle "MJ" Jones-Watson. While the two actors gained prominence after their roles in the solo Spider-Man films, both have embarked on numerous projects of their own, as well.

Zendaya has starred in Euphoria as the main character, Ruby "Rue" Bennett, since 2019. Her role in the series has garnered her a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series, making her the youngest recipient of the award. Euphoria follows Rue, a drug addict fresh out of rehab who struggles to stay clean, who functions within a circle of high school students each dealing their own trials. Ever since Holland admitted to visiting the set of Euphoria at least 30 times to see Zendaya while she was filming, rumors have surfaced that Holland had a secret Euphoria season 2 cameo role.

In an interview with Hollywood Access, Zendaya coyly responded to the rumor of Holland's cameo in Euphoria. The actor stated that she could neither confirm nor deny the rumors. Cheekily, she stated that it "could be" true, but also might not be. Ultimately, Zendaya kept Holland's potential part in Euphoria tightly under wraps. Check out her statement below:

"Could be. Could be true. Can't confirm or deny. The world may never know."

Euphoria season 2 tom holland cameo

Zendaya's answer is of course more of a joke than an answer, meant to keep viewers guessing about the truth. In addition to visiting the set, Holland has expressed his desire for a Euphoria cameo, and Zendaya has supported this in the past. However, the rumor mill stepped up a notch when eagle-eyed viewers claimed to have spotted Holland in Euphoria season 2, episode 7, "The Theater and It's Double." In the episode, a play is taking place and the camera frequently pans over the audience. In one of the scenes, viewers noticed an actor seated near the back who looks similar to Holland. That said, the scene is so quick, and the actor is so far back, that it is impossible to confirm whether or not it is Holland.

Since Holland has allegedly been spotted in Euphoria, viewers hoped that a definite answer would be forthcoming. Given Zendaya's purposefully coy comments, it's clear that confirmation is unlikely to come anytime soon. In the Euphoria season 2 storyline, it is ultimately inconsequential if Holland played an extra or not. It is simply a potential Easter egg that has kept viewers on the lookout when watching the hit series. In fact, Zendaya's refusal to confirm Holland's appearance will likely only fuel audiences to pay closer attention in future Euphoria episodes. With Euphoria season 3 confirmed, there are still plenty of opportunities to sneak the actor into a shot.
