Not only is she an actor, but Sweeney has many hobbies that focus on her athleticism, as well as her own business ventures. In press interviews for season 2 of Euphoria, Sweeney gave insight into her personality, relationships with cast members outside of the show, and why she decided to major in business while attending the University of Southern California.

She's Friends With Pete Davidson, MGK, And Halsey

One of Sydney Sweeney's first notable film roles was starring alongside Pete Davidson and Colson Baker (aka Machine Gun Kelly) in the coming-of-age movie, Big Time Adolescence. While filming, she became close with both megastars, even revealing in an interview with Elle UK that she loves both of them, but would trust MGK to tattoo her over Pete.

Sweeney is also close friends with singer-songwriter, Halsey. She starred opposite the pop star in their music video for "Graveyard" in 2019 and is slated to star in two upcoming projects with them, The Player's Table and National Anthem.

She's Guest-Starred On Several Hit Dramas

Before getting cast as the always fashionable Cassie on Euphoria, Sweeney was already well-acquainted with acting on popular drama series. She had guest spots on television shows such as Criminal Minds, Grey's Anatomy, and Pretty Little Liars as a teenager.

In 2018, she had a recurring role on Hulu's The Handmaid's Tale, where she starred as Eden Spencer, a faithful member of the Gilead cause. While on the show she was nominated for a SAG award, along with the rest of the cast, for Best Performance By An Ensemble in a Drama Series.

She Fixes Vintage Cars

One of the actor's many hobbies includes buying and repairing old vehicles. Fans first discovered this hidden talent of hers when they stumbled upon her under-the-radar TikTok account where she posted the fixer-up videos for all to see.

The account with the username "syds_garage" posted videos showcasing Sweeney's work on vintage cars, including her dream vehicle, a 1969 red Ford Bronco. Her account has over 1.3 million followers and gets up close and personal as Sweeney replaces parts, paints, and drives her dream car.

She's Been A Dog Mom Since She Was 16

In 2022, Sydney Sweney told Elle UK in an interview that she adopted her dog Tank when she was 16 years old following the loss of her childhood German Shepherd.

Sweeney described the process of adopting her dog as nearly a massive failure, as she ambushed her parents with her dog daughter after spending the day with her grandmother. She ended up taking Tank with her to USC in order to continue caring for her after moving out of her parents' house. Sweeney posts lots of pictures with Tank on her Instagram account.

She Broke Her Toe While Filming Euphoria

Euphoria is known for its beautiful imagery, large amounts of drama, and intense fight scenes between characters. During an appearance on The Late Late Show With James Corden, Sweeney revealed that she broke her toe while filming season 2 of the HBO series.

When James asked the young actor if she had celebrated wrapping season 2 with her fellow castmates, Sydney let it slip that Cassie and Alexa Demie's character, Maddy got into an altercation that led the latter to step on her foot and fracture her toe in three different places. To make matters funnier, Sweeney said that Alexa didn't even know what she did, and would be hearing it for the first time once her interview aired.

She Writes Books On Her Characters

Sweeney's most popular roles in her career thus far have been Cassie on Euphoria and Olivia on HBO's The White Lotus. One of her best practices as an actor is to write hundreds of pages on her characters to fully understand who they are and how to get into their head.

During an interview with Drew Barrymore on The Drew Barrymore Show, Sydney said that she writes books on all of her characters and that it helps her to flesh out a full backstory and fill in any and all gaps. This exercise helped her to get into Cassie's mind as she betrayed her best friend Maddy, and lashed out at her sister Lexi for putting on a play about her life.

She Has Her Own Production Company

In addition to being an acclaimed actor, Sweeney founded her own production company, Fifty-Fifty Films, in 2020. Glitter reported that the studio's first project is slated to be The Player's Table, a mini-series that will be based on the book "They Wish They Were Us" by Jessica Goodman.

Not only will Sweeney be starring in the series, but she will also be executive producing. Her close friend Halsey is also a part of the cast, which is due to be released sometime in 2022.

She Studied Business at USC

While chatting with Drew Barrymore in February 2022, Sydney Sweeney revealed that she wasn't allowed to take one of her finals at the University of Southern California due to missing too many class days to film The Handmaid's Tale. While at the university, Sydney studied business so that she could know the ins and outs of every contract she signed in her career.

While its unclear whether or not she graduated from USC, she was valedictorian of her high school, telling Drew that she was the complete opposite of the impulsive party-girl Cassie Howard whom she portrays on TV.

She And Her On-Screen Sister Are Real Life BFFs

Despite sisters Cassie and Lexi Howard being at odds for much of season 2 of Euphoria, their actors Sydney Sweeney and Maude Apatow couldn't be closer in real life.

While the age difference of their characters is a little over a year, with Maude portraying the younger Howard, Sydney and Maude are actually only three months apart and are best friends. The pair have had matching Halloween costumes several years in a row, and posts lots of pictures together on Instagram, whether it be Euphoria behind-the-scenes or the two of them just out and about.

She's A Trained MMA Fighter

Unlike her character on Euphoria, Sydney wasn't a cheerleader in high school. Instead, she told The Bristol Herald Courier that she was on her school's soccer, basketball, ski, and wakeboarding teams. All of this athleticism led her to train for her true passion, Mixed Martial Arts.

Sydney began training at a young age and competed against men in weight classes well above hers. She occasionally posts videos of herself training and fighting on Instagram, proving that there's a lot more to her than just acting and that she could have a career as an MMA fighter as well if she wanted.
