With the final episode of season 2 of Euphoria finally out, it's fair to say that most fans are left wanting more with the ending. This also goes for the many wonderful side characters that have made the series so great in the past.

While the series continues to embrace difficult topics and the harsh realities of addiction in realistic and emotional ways, the show's creator, Sam Levinson, did have to make a few changes to tell this story in a responsible manner (which ultimately meant there were some characters that didn't get as much development). With the show renewed for a season 3, there's a chance that some of these characters will get a bit more screen time in the future.

Ethan

Ethan has his moment in the limelight with Lexi's play at the end of the season, but audiences never really get to see how he deals with his break up and what is next for him. He had such a great arc in the first season that fell off along with Kat's story this season.

He may be more of a smaller side character, but he definitely needed another scene where he got to emotionally unload like some of the other characters got the opportunity to do. Hopefully, his story will be more prominent in some later episodes.

Elliot

Elliot is a new character this season, but his history and emotional state remains ambiguous (even by the end). He has his fling with Jules, never tells Rue, and is seen misusing drugs - although the audiences are never given a reason for why he does all of this.

His song also said nothing about him as a character beyond the fact that he has a bond with Rue that he can't deny. He just lacks a meaningful arc and a background that makes him more layered of a character.

Gia

A sad Gia after seeing her crush with another girl in school in Euphoria

Gia gets some small moments in the series as a whole, but, when she promises to tell Rue more about her life or her mom tells Rue that Gia's failing, there is nothing else said about her character to show that she's doing better.

Not to mention, Gia is one of the people that Rue cares about the most, but there isn't a moment written in where she shows her this in a tangible way. Gia isn't wrapped up in most of the high school drama in Euphoria, but she's important to the lead so she needs more screen time.

Samantha

Samantha looks at Maddy in Euphoria

Samantha is the woman that Maddy babysits for, and while there is certainly a sort of mentor-mentee relationship going on, nothing else is really explained about her. She records Maddy trying on her clothes and gifts her with a dress, but it's difficult to tell if she truly likes Maddy or is planning something more sinister.

While Sam Levinson sees Samantha as more of an older version of Maddy (via Vanity Fair), they have the weirdest interactions that make fans think there is more to this story. She was given all the elements to be a well-developed character, but she was never given the space to show who she is.

Chris McKay

Chris Mckay in the locker room in Euphoria

Chris McKay has a tragic past and was Cassie's boyfriend in season 1. He was present in basically every episode, but he had only seconds of time on the screen in the show's newest season. Although it does make sense with him being a college student, he should have made a little more impact.

McKay is in the house party in the first episode of season 2, but he would have added even more drama to the moment when Maddy found out that Cassie and Nate hooked up. He would have definitely fought with Nate.

Laurie

Laurie in Euphoria season 2

Laurie is another character who was introduced in season 2 that Levinson stopped addressing as one of the more important characters after a few episodes. She threatened to traffic Rue, almost did, and then she was never heard from again.

She is a calm, methodical person and her mannerisms define her character, but her storyline is basically forgotten after episode 5. However, with Faye calling her out while being recorded by the police, there's a possibility that Levison might use her in future episodes.

Kat Hernandez

Any fan of Euphoria and it's main cast knows that part of the reason Kat got minimal screen time this season was because of the actor's disagreement with Sam Levinson's darker plot for these episodes. She was so upset she didn't even go to the show's premiere with her other castmates.

Kat had a limited storyline which was made even worse by the fact that her character turned into someone who is entitled, disrespectful and not willing to have a conversation about what she wants in a relationship. Sadly, the character's actor wasn't given much to work with for these eight episodes.

Kat's Mystery Subscriber

Kat gets a mystery subscriber in season 1 who sends her money and, when on a video call, asks her to do some pretty things that she wasn't comfortable with.

It's scariness made audiences wonder if this person behind the computer screen would be revealed. Obviously, this didn't happen since the show then directed focus to the Cassie-Nate-Maddy storyline, but there's was a possibility that this could have led to another villain being added to the show. However, this is one storyline that viewers wouldn't care if Levison decided to cut altogether since it was just too uncomfortable and controversial for Euphoria fans.

Nate's Younger Brother

Nate and his older brother have been shown in Euphoria several times together, but their family photo clearly shows another younger brother in the mix. Although many fans were hopeful that season 2 would address this missing family member, he was never mentioned. It's one of the many things in Euphoria that fans still need answers to.

However, the tension in Nate's family is still oddly mysterious and this missing sibling could be part of the reason why so much of their shared trauma is unaddressed. It would at least be good for fans to learn this boy's name in season 3.
