Warning: Contains SPOILERS for Marvel's Eternals.

Marvel's Eternals never explained if Sprite still has her abilities at the end of the movie. Thanks to the power that Gemma Chan's character Sersi temporarily gained through the Uni-Mind, Sprite (Lia McHugh) finally got what she wanted—the chance to age and eventually become an adult. The consequence though, is that Sprite had to give up the immortality that she possessed as an Eternal.

While all the Eternals in the movie had to live with their inability to age over the last 7,000 years, this was a much bigger issue for Sprite, who was trapped in the body of a child the entire time. Because of Sersi's actions, Sprite is now free to experience a normal life and grow up just like a normal person. Since this was her greatest wish, she was willing to go down this path even if it meant not living forever as an Eternal. With Sprite’s decision, the number of Eternals in the MCU was whittled down even further, with Ajak (Salma Hayek), Gilgamesh (Don Lee), and Ikaris (Richard Madden) all becoming casualties.

Despite Spite seemingly being taken off the table for future adventures with the remaining Eternals, there are still some lingering questions about her fate. Sersi never explicitly stated if Spite would lose her powers, but since her abilities stem from having been an Eternal, it stands to reason that being stripped of her cosmic status also means losing all of the associated benefits. Assuming Marvel doesn't find a way to retcon this decision in future installments, now that Sprite's a human her powers should be gone for good.

However, the MCU could let Sprite keep her abilities by explaining in a later installment that Sersi only took Sprite’s immortality, but left her powers alone. Going this route would allow Marvel to still find room for Spite in Eternals 2, regardless of her severed connection to their species. Thena (Angelina Jolie), Druig (Barry Keoghan), Makkari (Lauren Ridloff), and Starfox (Harry Styles) could seek her aid in a potential sequel if they try to rescue the captured Eternals. Spite is no longer one of them, but may still feel obligated to assist them in whatever way she can.

That being said, Marvel finding a caveat to keep Sprite relevant to the story would risk undermining the significance of her life-changing decision. That’s why it’s highly unlikely—albeit still possible—that Sprite can still generate illusions. Instead, the most plausible scenario is that, true to Eternals' ending, the character will have a fully human existence after the events of the movie. Sprite could still have a reunion with someone like Sersi or Kingo (Kumail Nanjiani) at some point in the MCU’s future, but her days of participating in battles alongside her fellow Eternals seem to be over.
