Kit Harington admits he's disappointed the post-credits scene for Marvel's Eternals was spoiled weeks ahead of the movie's premiere. After spending nearly a decade in Westeros as Game of Thrones' Jon Snow, Harington is making the jump to another pop culture behemoth by starring in the MCU's Eternals. He plays Dane Whitman, the lone human among the titular cosmic beings at the center of the movie. Comics fans know Dane likely has a bigger future ahead of him in the MCU, but his part in Eternals is simply laying the groundwork for that.

The movie was originally slated to premiere last year, but it was pushed back to 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic. It's now set to arrive in theaters next week. However, though Eternals has only been screened for a handful of people so far, a major plot detail has already been revealed. Mere hours after the movie's Los Angeles premiere last week, a big casting reveal from the Eternals post-credits scene was shared online by a reporter, and it didn't take long for it to then spread around the internet.

Between the MCU and Game of Thrones, Harington is all too familiar with spoilers, and he even acknowledged he knows they're a very real occurrence. However, while speaking to The Playlist, Harington shared his disappointment that Eternals' post-credits scene was shared online. Like all creatives, he would prefer fans get the chance to experience the film as intended. Harington said:

I honestly didn’t know it had. I’ve lived in a world where spoilers happen for a long time. I realize they can happen. It’s just disappointing that people do it. Let people go to the cinema and experience it when they pay for their ticket and do it that way, rather than spreading it online where they might not realize they’re coming across stuff.

Disney executives have also pleaded with fans and press to keep Eternals' twists a secret, and so far it's mainly just the post-credits scene that has spread across the internet. Nevertheless, it's still a major casting and character reveal that Marvel and director Chloé Zhao wanted to keep as a surprise for fans. Harington's disappointment is understandable, and it likely echoes that of many fans who inadvertently stumbled upon the news on social media last week.

With Eternals just over a week away, hopefully no further plot details will get spoiled online. There's always a concern over spoilers getting out right when any major movie opens, but with Marvel projects it often feels much more intense. Marvel has gone to great lengths in the past to keep major twists under lock and key, and for the most part, it's been successful. This instance with Eternals is certainly a bummer, but the movie will surely hold plenty of additional surprises for fans as a way to make up for what has been spoiled.
