Young Thanos could appear in Eternals, according to creator Jim Starlin. Starlin started his career in the comic industry back in the '70s, working for both Marvel and DC over the years. Starlin has worked on dozens of comic books over his career, but is most known for creating the characters Thanos, Drax the Destroyer, and Gamora.

All three of Starlin's most known characters have of course been adapted for the MCU. The MCU built up Thanos' story arc for the past decade before the Avengers defeated him in Avengers: Endgame. Ever since the character was dusted away by Iron Man, fans have speculated on how Thanos could return in Phase 4. There are a number of ways Thanos could be brought back to the MCU thanks to the Multiverse, but there are theories a younger Thanos could appear in Eternals since his father, A'lars, was an Eternal. Now, Starlin seems to think that's the case as well.

When talking with Comicbook, Starlin said that he thinks Thanos will show up in Eternals and that Marvel is far from being finished with the character. Starlin elaborated by saying, "They made a s*** load of money off this guy. So I don't see them retiring him anytime soon. Comic book characters tend to have an extended lifespan beyond the actors who work on them. I'm half expecting to see much more Thanos down the line."

While Thanos has not been confirmed for Eternals yet, there are several other comic book characters that have been cast. Marvel announced the full cast for Eternals at last year's San Diego Comic-Con, which most notably included includes Angelina Jolie (Thena), Kumail Nanjiani (Kingo), Salma Hayek (Ajax), and Richard Madden (Ikaris). The characters, Phastos, Gigamesh, Makkari, and Sprite have also been cast, as well as Black Knight, who will be played by Game of Thrones star Kit Harrington.

Even though the movie looks to have a packed cast already, if Marvel plans to bring Thanos back, it would make sense to do it in Eternals. Eternals takes place after Avengers: Endgame, but with the Eternals being around for thousands of years, it's likely they will discuss their origins to some degree. Unused young Thanos concept art has surfaced for both Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, so it's possible it could be used in Eternals. One has to wonder though, with the character's satisfying conclusion in Endgame, does Marvel really need to bring Thanos back in Eternals?
