The first trailer for Marvel's Eternals raked in a total of 77 million views within 24 hours of its online release, making it the most viewed MCU teaser during the pandemic. The long-awaited trailer dropped last Monday and offered many interesting details for fans to digest. It showed the all-star cast led by Angelina Jolie, Salma Hayek, and Richard Madden dressed in their full costumes as the Eternals: a team of powerful ancient aliens who have been secretly living on Earth for thousands of years. While they've been silently observing humanity's progress, Thanos' death forces them to step into the stoplight to protect the planet from the evil Deviants.

Written and directed by Oscar-winner Chloé Zhao, Eternals features an incredible ensemble cast that also includes Gemma Chan, Kumail Nanjiani, Brian Tyree Henry, Barry Keoghan, Lauren Ridloff, Ma Dong-seok, and Lia McHugh. Game of Thrones star Kit Harington plays the human Dane Whitman, who in the comics becomes the Black Knight. Eternals is set to hit theaters on November 5.

Eternal's first trailer made history as the most viewed teaser in the Disney-MCU franchise during the whole 14-month-long pandemic. Minutes after its launch on May 24, the promotional clip quickly rose to become the number one trending video on YouTube. According to Deadline, the trailer drew an impressive 77 million global views on the day it dropped. It bested the 71 million record previously made by Cruella.

MCU trailers are always anticipated and consistently reach trending numbers upon their release. In fact, the Super Bowl teaser for Disney+'s The Falcon and the Winter Soldier received a whopping 125 million views. However, this number reportedly includes broadcast viewers while the Eternals' numbers are solely based on online traffic. Interestingly, the Eternals trailer also beat out teasers of pre-pandemic Disney movies, such as Maleficent: Mistress of Evil (61.7M) and Aladdin (60.8M).

The success of Eternal's first look is crucial not just to the MCU but also, and more importantly, to the entire film industry. The movie business has been severely hit by the COVID-19 pandemic, with many films suffering delays both in production and theater releases due to lockdown restrictions. As cinemas begin to reopen on the tail of the pandemic, their future depends on how well new movies perform at the box office. Marvel plans to make a strong comeback with a string of big movies scheduled for the latter half of 2021. Aside from Eternals, there's Black Widow, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, and Spider-Man: No Way Home.

The first full trailer for Marvel's Eternals gives fans a hint on what to expect about the movie. The two minutes, eight seconds long video is narrated by Salma Hayek as the spiritual leader Ajak. While it features dramatic shots and powerful fight scenes, it also ends on a light note with the ancient superheroes casually chatting over a meal. Sprite (Lia McHugh) asks who will lead the Avengers now that Captain America and Iron Man are gone. Ikaris (Richard Madden) volunteers after a pause, making the rest of his fellow Eternals laugh at the joke. With its stunning cinematography and witty dialogue, Eternals poses to be an epic cinematic experience.
