Eternals star Lia McHugh is as curious as everyone else about Sprite's future storylines, though she has plenty of thoughts. Released in theaters last November, Chloé Zhao's Eternals brought a slew of new characters to the MCU and carried the franchise into unfamiliar territory. That's true both onscreen and off, as with the latter, Eternals has become one of the most divisive installments in the MCU. Onscreen, the film introduced viewers to the titular cosmic team, comprised of individuals with incredible abilities who were sent to Earth thousands of years ago to fight the Deviants.

Eternals ended with its surviving characters in vastly different places than where they began. Makkari (Lauren Ridloff), Druig (Barry Keoghan), and Thena (Angelina Jolie) left Earth to warn other Eternals of what they learned about their creators, while Sersi (Gemma Chan), Kingo (Kumail Nanjiani), and Phastos (Brian Tyree Henry) were snatched off the planet by the Celestial Arishem, who was displeased with their munity. Finally, Sprite was left by herself on Earth. For thousands of years, she had remained childlike in her appearance, but Sersi turned her into a human so she could age, just as she has always wanted. This leaves numerous possibilities for Sprite's future.

However, McHugh doesn't know where her Marvel character is going just yet. In a recent interview with Screen Rant, the actress admitted Marvel doesn't tell her much about the future. At the same time, she's very aware that there are plenty of things to explore with Sprite, and she's curious to see how they pan out. McHugh said:

Exactly, I can grow up. Yeah. I don't have to be shrunk down, which is nice. I don't know. I think there's so many things that can happen with the character. I think it's cool that I'm the only one left on earth, which is interesting. I don't know if I have my powers or not. I mean, they don't really tell me much.

It's true that, from a practical standpoint, allowing Sprite to age is a smart decision. Future Eternals movies won't have to de-age McHugh in order to keep her youthful; Sprite can grow alongside her. As for the storylines that are now possible, it is interesting that Sprite is the only member of the team still on Earth. With Sersi, Kingo, and Phastos now in trouble, it remains to be seen if Sprite will be recruited to help save them. Between and McHugh's musing about her powers, there are a lot of questions that need to be answered in Eternals 2 when it comes to Sprite.

While so little is known right now, this is also an exciting creative opportunity. Even beyond the implications her new circumstances have for Eternals 2, Sprite's place on Earth as the lone Eternal means she could pop up anywhere in the MCU. Perhaps fans will see her surface in an unexpected place before she jets off to save her family in the next Eternals. Right now, the door is wide open for future adventures. Fans will just have to wait and see where those adventures lead.
