Amid the lack of official content for Eternals, Kumail Nanjiani tells fans that the movie is worth all the wait. Marvel Studios has been forced on an extended break after the Infinity Saga due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. The franchise has been in an unscheduled hiatus now for more than a year — the longest it has gone without a release since Phase 1.

While Scarlett Johansson and Cate Shortland's Black Widow is supposed to kick off MCU's Phase 4, fans feel the most impact of the delay on Chloe Zhao's Eternals. The film was originally slated to hit theaters this November, and if things panned out the way they were supposed to, marketing for it would be in full swing by now. Unlike Black Widow which has long started its promotions, Marvel Studios is holding off releasing any official content for Eternals which is understandably frustrating for fans as the film barely has any proper publicity materials, let alone film footage. That said, Nanjiani says that all this wait will ultimately be worth it.

After showing support for Zhao on the heels of her latest project Nomadland, which is already generating Oscar buzz, fans asked Nanjiani questions about Eternals. One tells him to ask Marvel Studios to already release the trailer — something that he said will do but didn't commit to delivering on the request. In the end, he empathized with everyone who is anticipating any word on the film but promised them that the film will not disappoint. Check out his tweets below:

Nanjiani plays Kingo — one of the Eternals. He is joined by a star-studded ensemble cast playing the titular characters including Angelina Jolie as Thena, Richard Madden as Ikaris, Lauren Ridloff as Makkari, Brian Tyree Henry as Phastos, Salma Hayek as Ajak, Lia McHugh as Sprite, and Don Lee as Gilgamesh, Gemma Chan as Sersi, and Barry Keoghan as Druig. Kit Harington also joins Eternals as Black Knight. The roster of talent in the film is staggering and fans had been excited about the project since it was announced at last year's San Diego Comic-Con, with additional details revealed at D23 Expo. Since then, however, there's barely any official content from it despite Zhao and her team wrapping up the film just before shelter-in-place mandates were implemented to curb the spread of the coronavirus. That means that Marvel Studios has a trailer in their hands, they're just not releasing it for now.

As frustrating it is for fans to wait for a trailer or any other promo content for Eternals, the decision to hold off kicking off marketing for the film somehow makes sense. At this point, release schedules are still very much susceptible to changes and Marvel Studios does not want to stretch out their promo campaign for the ensemble project like how they're forced to with Black Widow. So unless they're somewhat sure that the movie will hit theaters on time, they will more likely delay starting its marketing.
