Marvel's Eternals plot details are posted to Wikipedia, and they're all wrong. Eternals is the newest entry in the MCU, featuring an ensemble of superheroes created by beings known as Celestials, who send their creations to Earth to protect and guide humanity against the Deviants, an evil alien race. Directed by Chloe Zhao, the film stars Richard Madden, Angelina Jolie, Gemma Chan, Salma Hayek, Kit Harington, Bryan Tyree Henry, Kumail Nanjiani, Lia McHugh, Don Lee, Barry Keoghan, and Lauren Ridloff.

The film has screened for critics, who have posted their initial reactions and full reviews for the film, most of which have been relatively divisive. Eternals is currently the lowest-rated MCU film, sitting at 56 percent rotten, a milestone for the Marvel franchise thus far. The film opens wide this Friday, with early screenings taking place Thursday night, which will undoubtedly add to the discussion of the film online and otherwise, as fan reactions will come pouring in to add to the discourse.

However, it appears that Eternals is already suffering from some serious misinformation, as the Wikipedia page for the film recently posted a detailed plot breakdown which is all wrong. The details have since been taken down, but Screen Rant staffers have seen the movie and can confirm that much of what was written in the plot details are entirely incorrect, right down to the post-credits scenes. It's unclear who posted the plot details, as Wikipedia is easily manipulated, or if it's possibly an attempt to divert fans from actual spoilers. No intent or responsibility has been claimed for the misinformation thus far. Check out a screenshot of the info below:

Eternals is one of the riskier new ventures for the MCU, not only in terms of story but in some of the social aspects worked into the film, including the first LGBTQ couple portrayed in the universe of films. It's also the first MCU feature film to have a sex scene between two characters. While some fairly explicit sex scenes took place in the Marvel/Netflix shows, which are said to be in the same universe, the feature films have never ventured anything beyond a kiss or embrace in their long run of films so far. As far as the story goes, adapting the convoluted and complex world of Eternals, as created by comic legend Jack Kirby, is no small feat and one that audiences may not entirely be ready for.

With Eternals already creating a divisive wave based on reviews and early reactions and individuals attempting to generate strife over different story details they may find offensive, it's not a huge surprise that someone would manipulate the Wikipedia page with misinformation. It wouldn't be the first time something like that has happened (and thankfully caught early on). Both fans and dissenters have been known to review bomb with fake or negative reviews, depending on where they stand with the property and what they're trying to accomplish with the vitriolic attacks. Typically, the more controversial films will spark this behavior, but it entices viewers to see the movie for many. In that way, the cynical attacks help the film more than they hurt it. This weekend will be telling, as the film will open to the masses, and audience reactions will soon guide the narrative around it.
