A possible Funko Pops leak reveals Marvel Studios' Eternals will include Kro, the leader of the Deviants. Although the start of Phase 4 is currently unknown following after Black Widow's indefinite delay, the Marvel Cinematic Universe is currently planning to introduce a new element at the end of the year. Eternals will feature the debut of the superpowered humans who were created by the Celestials, with Gemma Chan's Sersi, Angelina Jolie's Thena, and Richard Madden's Ikaris among the leads.
Marvel has assembled a stacked cast for Eternals in addition to the names already mentioned. Salma Hayek, Kumail Nanjiani, Brian Tyree Henry, and more will be part of the Eternals, while Kit Harington will appear as the non-Eternal adventurer Black Knight. But, one question that those who know the Eternals have had is what role the Deviants will play in the film. The Deviants were another creation of the Celestials, but their creation went awry and resulted in them having monstrous appearances. It is confirmed that they are in the film, but Marvel has yet to reveal how the Deviants factor into Eternals' story or if any of them from the comics will appear.
Thanks to a potential leak of upcoming Funko Pops shared by ANerdyDad on Instagram, it appears that the Deviant leader Kro is set to make an appearance in Eternals. Kro is among the list of Eternals-related Funkos Pops that will be released later in 2020. As the leader of the Deviants, Kro is traditionally a main antagonist to the Eternals in the comics and this reveal could indicate that he'll serve the same purpose in the MCU.
Kro was created along with the rest of the Eternals by Jack Kirby in 1976 and debuted in Eternals #1. Unlike the rest of the Deviants, who traditionally have regular lifespans and are not nearly immortal like the Eternals, Kro has lived for thousands of years in the comics. During this time, he's led the Deviants while they hide underground and scheme against humans and Eternals, but has also had a romance with Thena. Now that there is some information pointing towards Kro's appearance in Eternals, he immediately becomes the top choice to be the villain of the film.
The question this does raise, however, is who will play Kro in the film. Marvel has confirmed a large ensemble for Eternals, but they've also announced character names with each actor. If Kro is in the film, Marvel has either lied about the identity of the character or have a secret cast member attached to play the part. The latter could be hard to conceal, but the MCU's new designs for the Deviants could allow Kro to be a CGI creation that Marvel could add a big name voice to later on if desired. Then again, maybe Kro's involvement could add more credence to speculation that Dan Stevens has a role in the film. It's also worth noting that Richard Madden teased Eternals has more cast members than Marvel's announced, so maybe a secret actor was on set playing Kro already.
