The lineup of characters set to fill The Eternals movie looks to have been revealed. Marvel Studios is making plenty of progress on what could be their next big cosmic franchise. The Eternals has gained significant steam throughout the year, and now appears to be close to casting with some character breakdowns surfacing.
The Eternals will bring to life the outlandish Jack Kirby-created Marvel property. Although the characters are not widely known at this point, they'll be the first new franchise to launch from Phase 4 of the MCU. This was first indicated when a pair of writers were announced to have been hired, and it wasn't too long after that Chloe Zhao was revealed to be directing. The comic version of the story largely revolves around the war between the two Celestial created races known as Eternals and Deviants. This looked to be confirmed from an early synopsis for the movie, with the crux of the story focusing on the love story of Ikaris and Sersi. However, newly revealed character breakdowns reveal an even larger scope for the film's cast.
That Hashtag Show revealed the character breakdowns for The Eternals, and shows the massive cast of characters that Marvel plans to include and introduce. There are twelve characters listed in the breakdowns that would each appear to play sizable roles in the movie. These characters are Karen, Druig, Piper, Elysius, Forgotten One, Ikaris, Makkari, Sersi, Starfox, Thena, Zuras, and an unnamed "Greek God" character. All of the roles appear to be open to any and all ethnicities.
To get more specific into each of the characters, here are some details we can pull from the breakdowns. The role of Karen is described as a powerful leader and Marvel's looking for a woman in her 30s to fill the part. No age restrictions were given to the energy manipulating Druig, who will be the villain in The Eternals. Piper is a 10-16 year old girl that appears to be a gender-swapped take on the character known as Sprite. The roles of Elysius, The Forgotten One, Ikaris, Makkari, Sersi, Starfox, and Thena are all looking for 20 to 40 year old actors or actresses to fill the roles. No age range was specified for Zuras or the "Greek God" character.
As evident by these breakdowns, The Eternals will have tons of characters in it. The comics typically have Ikaris, Sersi, and Makkari as some of the main characters. Outside of no mention of the Deviants, the biggest surprise could be Starfox's inclusion. He's the brother of Thanos, which could increase the chances of Josh Brolin making a small appearance. Most of these characters have standard genetically enhanced abilities, while each usually have one particular difference - such as Makkari's speed. It's also being speculated that the Greek God character could be Hercules. Now that these characters are known to be part of The Eternals, it could only be a matter of time before some of these roles are cast.
