Warning: This post contains SPOILERS for Eternals.

Despite its sprawling cast, there are still a few Eternals characters who were missing from Marvel's Phase 4 movie. Directed by Chloe Zhao, Eternals spans thousands of years and tells the story of a race of super-powered, immortal aliens who were sent to Earth by god-like beings known as the Celestials. Getting to know all of the characters almost takes a lot of homework, but Zhao's aesthetic cleverly uses colors to code the characters throughout.

The star-studded cast of Eternals  - which includes names like Angelina Jolie, Richard Madden, Kit Harington, and Salma Hayek - represents a large number of key Eternals characters from the comics. Making their live-action debut in the movie are Ikaris (Madden), the main protagonist from the comics, along with Thena (Jolie), Sersi (Gemma Chan), Gilgamesh (Don Lee), Ajak (Hayek), Makkari (Lauren Ridloff), and more. Even minor Eternals characters like Kingo (Kumail Nanjiani) are in on the action. Though some are being gender-swapped for the MCU, the selection of characters suggests that Marvel Studios won't exclude much from the comics. Most of the important characters from the Eternals comics do appear in the movie, including villain Kro (Bill Skarsgard), who is a Deviant and the Eternals' main antagonist through most of the comics.

Aside from Kro, whose announcement came late thanks to the trailers, only two other Eternals characters were confirmed by the movie, thanks to the mid-credits scene and they didn't quite complete the team. That credits scene sets up the possibility for the missing Eternals to appear in Eternals 2 or elsewhere in the MCU. And there are a few notable absences, so here's every major Eternals character still missing from the MCU movie.

Zuras

Zuras looms over Thena and Makkari in Marvel Comics.

In Marvel Comics, Zuras is the Eternals' equivalent to the Asgardians' Odin. It was Zuras who established a group of Eternals on Earth, while others broke off and traveled to different corners of the universe. As a character who has been the leader of the Earth-based Eternals for thousands of years, Zuras is a wise, yet proud ruler who exerts his will over his subjects when he feels it necessary. Zuras, who has worked to keep the Eternals hidden from the humans, once banished one of their own, Gilgamesh, for meddling too much in human affairs. Zuras doesn't usually get involved in the fighting, but when he does, the comics have shown him to be among the most powerful characters in the Marvel Universe.

So why was Zuras left out of Marvel's Eternals movie? For one thing, Salma Hayek's Ajak is presented as the Eternals' leader - the Prime Eternal - so it could be that Zuras was removed from the story altogether so that Ajak can fill that role instead. As for why that could be the case, it's possible that Marvel wants to avoid comparisons to the MCU's Odin. Even so, Zuras could still have been mentioned, since the comic book version of Zuras is Thena's father. He could be the dead Eternals character mentioned in passing, who seemed to have met their demise 7000 years ago.

Ransak the Reject

Originally referred to simply as "The Reject" in Jack Kirby's original Eternals comic book series, Ransak the Reject is an interesting addition to the Eternals cast in the comics. Though Ransak bears the appearance of an ordinary human, he is in fact a Deviant, a subterranean species deemed too hideous to live alongside humans. Due to their monstrous looks, the Deviants have to hide from society. Embittered by their own defects, the Deviants shunned Ransak, who by some genetic accident looks identical to a human. Their treatment of him filled him with hatred, causing him to grow up into a cold, ruthless, savage who behaves like an animal in battle. Ransak was forced by the Deviants to fend for his life as a gladiator.

After being found by Thena, Ransak was taken from the Deviants' homeworld and allowed a good life with the Eternals, who were the first people who didn't treat him like an abomination. Since then, Ransak has been an ally to the Eternals who has played key roles in several of their stories. Given the changes made to the Deviants in the MCU, Ransak would have fit more, but his backstory simply wouldn't have had space in the huge story and would have undermined Kro's transformation twist.

Karkas

In the comics, Ransak is one half of a duo of Deviant heroes, the other half being Karkas, a gigantic, red monster who is considered to be even more grotesque than most Deviants. Contrary to his appearance, Karkas is an extremely articulate beast who has what he calls "the soul of a poet." Karkas and Ransak are an interesting pair because the two are polar opposites in two different ways. Ransak, who is described as attractive by human standards, acts like an animal, whereas the well-mannered Karkas is burdened by his monstrous appearance.

Will Karkas and his bromance with Ransak the Reject make it in the MCU after Eternals, since they don't appear in the superteam's debut movie? Karkas could be included, but it's hard to imagine how his design would fit with the MCU redesign of the Deviants. Plus, given their story, it's hard to see why Marvel would have any intention of introducing any heroic Deviants right now. The Deviants were strictly the villains of the Eternals movie, even after Kro revealed that they too had been deceived by Arishem and saw the Eternals as the villains. Perhaps that could open up a possibility of more sympathetic variants in future?
