Kit Harington revealed that he sought the help of Google to learn more about his character in EternalsThe English actor began his acting career in the London theater scene and got his major break in 2011 for playing Jon Snow in HBO's hit fantasy series, Game of Thrones. Since then, he has done a number of movies including Pompeii, Brimstone, and the How to Train Your Dragon film series. In November, Harington is set to make his MCU debut in Eternals.

The upcoming film will expand the Marvel universe and introduce a new set of superheroes: the Eternals, a team of immortal ancient aliens who have been secretly observing humanity's progress for centuries. They emerge from their hiding to protect the Earth from their evil counterparts, the Deviants. Harington will play the role of Dane Whitman, aka The Black Knight. Marvel Comics fans know the character as the sword-wielding superhero who comes from the line of the legendary Arthurian knight from the medieval ages. Harington joins an ensemble cast that includes Angelina Jolie, Salma Hayek, Gemma Chan, and fellow Game of Thrones star Richard Madden.

In a recent appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy FallonHarington confessed that he didn't know much about his Eternals character when he was cast for the part. The 34-year-old revealed that the movie's creators didn't send him a script so he had to turn to Google for help. As it turned out, Harington discovered that Dane Whitman/The Black Knight was a lot like his iconic Game of Thrones character.

I didn't get sent a script. I just got sent, 'This is who you're playing.'" So I was like, 'Okay.' So I just had to Google the character. This is you know, a hell of a way to kind of work out who you're playing. I Googled him. He's a character called Dane Whitman, and I realized he has a sword and rides a horse. And I was like, 'I know this guy. I've been this guy.'

While the Black Knight has appeared in several titles in the comics, not much is known about his live-action adaptation in Eternals. Harington himself is not included in the poster, which features its famous all-star cast. Instead, the actor made a brief appearance in Eternals' trailer. It was a blink-and-miss-it moment and didn't really offer any hints about the role.

All this mystery surrounding Harrington's inclusion in Eternals has drawn a lot of speculations about his role. Because the Black Knight is actually a mortal in the comics, he is not part of the alien superhero team. As such, Harington may not be a major presence in the upcoming movie. Instead, many fans believe that it will merely introduce his character to make way for future films and even a possible solo outing. After all, casting the Game of Thrones star is a huge deal given his massive fanbase. Given all these clues, it seems that Marvel intends to keep Harington's role a heavily guarded secret for an exciting reason.
