A brand new clip from Eternals is an action extravaganza showing the team fighting off Deviants thousands of years ago. Eternals is the upcoming third film in Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, directed by Academy Award winner Chloé Zhao. The film will introduce Marvel fans to a new team of superheroes, immortal beings who have guided humanity for the past 7,000 years. The film stars Gemma Chan, Richard Madden, Kit Harington, Salma Hayek, Angelina Jolie, Kumail Nanjiani, Brian Tyree Henry, Dong-seok Ma, Lia McHugh, and Lauren Ridloff.

The Eternals originated millennia ago when cosmic beings known as the Celestials experimented on early humanity. These experiments also created the monstrous creatures known as Deviants, who are led by the shapeshifting villain Kro. Although the Eternals are instructed not to meddle in the affairs of humans, which explains why they haven't stopped wars or major events like Thanos' snap, they are duty-bound to interfere in any situation involving Deviants.

During an interview with Salma Hayek and Kumail Nanjiani on Jimmy Kimmel Live, they shared a brand new clip from the film. The clip is about a minute long and expands on certain shots seen in the Eternals trailer, namely the dragon Deviant emerging from the ocean and several clips of the heroes using their powers. It reveals the full context for the scene, showing the group - especially Nanjiani's Kingo and Lauren Ridloff's Makkari - fighting off two Deviants who are attempting to make a meal out of a tribe of early humans. Check out the video below with the clip beginning around 8:00 mark:

This clip shows how well the Eternals worked as a unit when they originally operated on Earth. For the first time, fans can see their powers serving a function rather than in the abstract. However, it's unlikely that this teamwork will be as effortless in the current timeline, when the Eternals must reunite after being separated for many years in order to prevent the emergence of a Deviant horde ignited by the energy from the Avengers undoing Thanos' snap in Endgame.

It will certainly be exciting for fans to see how the individual powers of the heroes fit together (or don't) as they fight their way through Eternals. This film will present the largest team of Marvel heroes since Phase 3 culminated in 2019. After Endgame, Marvel has focused on introducing new characters and continuing individual storylines rather than presenting another Avengers-style teamup, so it will be a refreshing change of pace for Phase 4 to see so many heroes working alongside one another, even if they're all new to the MCU.
